said Hasson, who turned 18 shortly after arriving home.

“The organisers were strict with weigh-ins the day before and on the morning of each fight.

“I had three fights in three days and lost a very close contest in the third, which meant I came away with a bronze medal.”

Hasson opened his campaign with a victory over a tall and physical Ukrainian opponent, before overcoming a Canadian fighter the following day.

“My first fight was against a very tall and tough Ukrainian, then a Canadian on day two, and I won both,” he said.

“Going into the third fight, I knew the Mexican opponent was probably the toughest in our category.

“I felt confident, but after a closely fought bout, he got the decision and went on to win gold.

“I was gutted at the time, but overall the experience was incredible.

“I’m also proud to have played a part in Bad Company being named Team of the Tournament.”

Balancing his development in the sport with education, Hasson has been maintaining an intense training schedule.

“I’ve been fitting training around school and I’m doing at least seven sessions a week,” he added.

“I’m now competing at pro-am level, so there’s no head or body protection, although we still wear shin guards and can’t use elbows yet.

 “Winning is the best feeling.

“My fights are nine minutes at the moment, compared to 15 minutes at full professional level.

“I also enjoy helping to train younger fighters and cornering them on shows.”

Hasson, who lives in Idle with his parents and two brothers, is already focused on his next steps in the sport.

“I’m preparing for a step-up next,” he said.

“I’m fighting on the Hitman show in Manchester on September 12, which will be a C-class bout without shin pads.

“I’ll also be competing as an adult, so again there’s no head or body protection.

“After that, I’m hoping to be selected for a European Championship in Sardinia in October.”

Alongside his sporting ambitions, Hasson is planning for life beyond the ring, with hopes of studying physiotherapy at university next year, potentially in Leeds or Manchester.

Like many elite athletes, funding remains a key challenge.

Hasson is grateful for the support he has already received but is seeking further backing ahead of upcoming competitions.

He said: “Coffeesafe helped fund the Thailand trip, which I’m really thankful for.

“I’m now looking for sponsorship from individuals or local businesses to support the October trip and the WBC Championships in Italy next June.”

Hasson can be contacted via Instagram @zac_badco, or through coach Lisa Houghton-Smith via email at lisabadco@gmail.com or text on 07885 270267.

His goal for the upcoming events is clear — to return to Yorkshire with gold.

Reflecting on the experience, Hasson admitted it was a demanding but rewarding trip. “There were highs and lows…

[41
2560,101,56,54,55
post-724338","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-boxing","tag-boxing","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
