Olivia Dean<\/a> surprised the Lollapalooza<\/a> crowd by bringing out Sam Fender<\/a> for \u2018Rein Me In\u2019 \u2013 check out footage of their performance below.<\/p>\n

Dean headlined the third night of Lollapalooza at the T-Mobile stage on Saturday (August 1), drawing a large crowd who she often paused to address throughout the set, reflecting on the impact of her latest album, \u2018The Art of Loving<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis album has just completely changed my life, and it\u2019s been so healing, and I\u2019m so proud. It\u2019s been crazy,\u201d Dean said. \u201cThe whole point of this album is about me trying to figure out what life really means to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before introducing Fender, Dean also told the Chicago crowd about the recent success of \u2018Rein Me In\u2019, which just days before, had\u00a0broken the record for the longest-running UK Number One single of all time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to do something special, because we\u2019re also celebrating today, because back home in the UK, I\u2019m very proud to be part of a song that\u2019s just broken the Guinness World Record, and the longest running number one in UK history, and I\u2019m so proud to be a part of it. It only felt right that we play it for the first time ever in America, with the man himself, Mr Sam Fender!\u201d<\/p>\n

Their performance marks the first time the song has ever been played live in America, and follows weeks of chart dominance, having now spent\u00a019 weeks at the top of the UK Official Singles Chart.<\/p>\n

With the record-breaking accomplishment, the song overtakes Frankie Laine\u2019s \u2018I Believe\u2019 for the title, which spent 18 weeks at the top spot on the charts across three separate runs in 1953. The record stood for 73 years.<\/p>\n

Released over a year ago, \u2018Rein Me In\u2019 took 35 weeks to reach Number One after it first made its way onto the UK charts, only hitting the peak position in February 2026, becoming\u00a0Fender\u2019s first chart-topping single<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two artists officially released the collaborative version<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0\u2018People Watching\u2019<\/a>\u00a0track last summer, after\u00a0they performed it live together at Fender\u2019s shows in London <\/a>and Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In May,\u00a0the pair celebrated nine non-consecutive weeks at the top spot on the UK singles chart<\/a>\u00a0by delivering\u00a0a joint rendition during Dean\u2019s headline concert at London\u2019s O2<\/a>. While it is Fender\u2019s first Number One, it is Dean\u2019s second following\u00a0\u2018Man I Need\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the\u00a0team-up bagged them the Song Of The Year award at the BRITs 2026<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n

Amid the success of the single,\u00a0Fender was the recipient of the Songwriter Of The Year award at the Ivor Novellos<\/a>.\u00a0Elton John<\/a>\u00a0presented the artist with the prize, describing him as \u201cone of the greatest lyricists Britain has ever produced\u201d.<\/p>\n

For Dean, the singer\u00a0won the Best New Artist statue at the BET Awards<\/a>\u00a0last month.\u00a0She cleared up at this year\u2019s BRITs<\/a>\u00a0in February too, with her wins including Album Of The Year for\u00a0\u2018The Art Of Loving\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n
