In Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man franchise, Insomniac Games didn\u2019t pull its punches when it came to depicting the webcrawler\u2019s ass-kicking abilities, though it refrained from showing blood or any graphical depiction of death and violence, which is understandable, given Spider-Man isn\u2019t really known to be a character that\u2019s bloodthirsty or very violent.<\/p>\n

That changes in Marvel\u2019s Wolverine, as what Insominac has shown so far includes a lot of dismemberment, blood, and gore<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no wonder that the official ESRB rating of the game is an \u201cM\u201d for Mature, compared to the Spider-Man games\u2019 \u201cT’\u201d for Teen.<\/p>\n

It seems it\u2019s not only violence that wil earn the game its M rating, as even partial nudity is confirmed too.<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Wolverine Will Have Partial Nudity But It\u2019s Not What You Think<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Wolverine ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) rating<\/a> has surfaced, and as expected, it earned an \u201cM\u201d for Mature, citing \u201cBlood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Strong Language.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ratings Summary mentions that players will see \u201cexposed buttocks,\u201d though it seems that\u2019s the extent of the nudity.<\/p>\n

Complete summary states, \u201cMarvel\u2019s Wolverine is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, and Strong Language. Also includes In-Game Purchases. This is an action game in which players assume the role of James Logan\/Wolverine, as he reunites with Team X to stop a dangerous threat. From a third-person perspective, players use melee attacks and special skills to kill enemy soldiers and robots in frenetic combat. Players use their claws to slash, stab, and slice enemies; rage modes allow players to enact faster, more destructive combos and slow-motion finishers (e.g., dramatically stabbing an enemy in the head). Combat is highlighted by frequent blood-splatter effects, screams of pain, and dismemberment\/decapitation. Battlefields are sometimes strewn with torsos and limbs; cutscenes can also depict blood and gore (e.g., characters tearing enemies apart, decapitating enemy soldiers). A handful of sequences briefly depict a character\u2019s exposed buttocks. The dialogue references drugs (e.g., \u201cIt doubled my production of fentanyl.\u201d). The words \u201cf**k\u201d and \u201csh*t\u201d appear in the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

It mentions \u201ca handful of sequences\u201d when it comes to the partal nudity, and chances are, it\u2019s Wolverine himself that\u2019s naked, and if I had to hazard a guess, it might be Wolverine\u2019s story in the game, and how he was subjected to the Weapon X program.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll have to wait next month to see if that is the case when Marvel\u2019s Wolverine claws out on September 15.<\/p>\n
