Manchester United are unlikely to bring in a transfer fee for Rasmus Hojlund this summer as AC Milan close in on signing him, sources have told Football Insider.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the latest edition of\u00a0Football Insider\u2019s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, senior correspondent Pete O\u2019Rourke revealed what his sources have said about the Serie A side\u2019s pursuit of Hojlund<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim<\/a> has admitted that Hojlund could leave Man United imminently<\/a> and may be in new colours by the time of their Premier League opener on 17 August, after being superseded by Benjamin Sesko<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sesko\u2019s \u00a374million move from RB Leipzig leaves the writing on the wall for Hojlund at Old Trafford, and sources have told Football Insider that a return to Italy with AC Milan<\/a> is the Dane\u2019s likeliest landing spot.<\/p>\n

Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Milan are keen on a loan deal for Hojlund<\/a>, but the Serie A side are unwilling to pay the \u00a340million fee Man United<\/a> want to recoup this summer for the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n

Sources have told Football Insider that AC Milan<\/a>\u2018s preference is to sign Hojlund on loan with a \u00a335\u201340m option to buy, but that lack of a guaranteed transfer fee could scupper the deal from Man United\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

Man United\u2019s Hojlund stance could delay AC Milan deal<\/p>\n

Hojlund is one of several big names that Man United have struggled to move off the books this summer, and Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Chelsea have cooled their interest in Alejandro Garnacho<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the new Inside Track podcast<\/a>, O\u2019Rourke said that Man United\u2019s hopes of earning a transfer fee for Hojlund this summer are unlikely, with Milan the current front-runners of the race to sign him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt does looks like his future lies away from Old Trafford and it looks like he could end up back in Serie A\u201d, he told Football Insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Benjamin Sesko coming in, he is going to be the number nine at United and will be leading the line in Ruben Amorim\u2019s new-look frontline, so Hojlund has been pushed down the pecking order. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think Serie A probably looks like the best landing spot for him; AC Milan seem to be the club making all the moves to bring him back to Italy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMilan are trying to get Hojlund on the cheap; they prefer a loan deal with an option to sign, which again, we find [that] a lot of these deals end up happening. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo United might get a loan fee for Hojlund, but they\u2019re not getting that full \u2013 probably \u00a340million \u2013 [fee] which they would hope to get for the Denmark International.<\/p>\n

\u201cMilan would prefer to take Hojlund on loan with an option to sign for around \u00a335\u201340million next summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hojlund running out of options to seal Man United exit<\/p>\n

Amorim\u2019s overhaul of United\u2019s frontline is complete with the acquisition of Sesko after Matheus Cunha<\/a> and Bryan Mbeumo<\/a>, with each signing reducing the chances of Hojlund having a future at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Fulham<\/a> have now emerged as surprise contenders to sign Hojlund with Rodrigo Muniz set for a move to Serie A<\/a>, but they\u2019re still weighing up whether to launch a loan or permanent offer to match AC Milan.<\/p>\n

Suitors for Hojlund have understandably been hard to come by given his patchy form and the massive \u00a364m fee paid for him, and Amorim certainly won\u2019t stand in his way if a deal is agreed with either Milan or Fulham.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
