\n\tSpider-Man<\/a>: Brand New Day has already spun its way to the billion-dollar mark at the global box office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony Pictures<\/a> announced Tuesday that the superhero movie, starring Tom Holland<\/a>, Zendaya<\/a> and Sadie Sink<\/a>, has grossed $1.05 billion in its first six days. This makes it the second-fastest film to achieve this milestone, behind only Avengers: Endgame, which launched with $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend in April 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter appearing to be neck-and-neck with Endgame for best domestic opening weekend in history, Sony confirmed Monday that Brand New Day had swung ahead to claim the title with $360 million<\/a>. This pushed Endgame\u2019s $357.1 million sum down to second place, although its global opening total remained ahead of the $932 million that Spidey collected worldwide.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> also set records for the biggest<\/a> Thursday previews and top Friday opening domestic sum, along with becoming Sony\u2019s best-ever launch. Hailing from producers Marvel Studios and Amy Pascal, director Destin Daniel Cretton<\/a>\u2018s feature carries a $225 million production budget.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt becomes the fourth 2026 release to join the 10-figure club, with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael and Toy Story 5 also having hit the billion-dollar mark this year. Additionally, The Odyssey is almost there, having surpassed $900 million worldwide. There were four 2025 releases to make $1 billion globally: Ne Zha 2, Zootopia 2, Avatar: Fire and Ash and Lilo & Stitch.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony Pictures chief Tom Rothman told The Hollywood Reporter that the biggest win for him was that audiences had been responding favorably<\/a> to Brand New Day, given that it earned an A CinemaScore and holds a 98 audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAll the geniuses who said that theatrical movies were dead, they\u2019re not necessarily right,\u201d said Rothman, a longtime advocate for the theatrical experience. \u201cActually, the theatrical marketplace is booming right now, and I\u2019m excited about it. So I\u2019m very optimistic.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the wake of this head-spinning success, Imax has changed course and announced Monday that\u00a0it will split screens<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Spider-Man: Brand New Day\u00a0and\u00a0The Odyssey. Spidey gives Marvel Studios new momentum ahead of this December\u2019s release for\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday, which also will not screen on Imax when it debuts.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony expects Brand New Day to continue to draw audiences in the waning summer weeks to come.
