{"id":728187,"date":"2026-08-05T10:48:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T10:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/728187\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T10:48:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T10:48:16","slug":"carl-frampton-sums-up-anthony-joshuas-performance-against-prenga-and-makes-new-tyson-fury-prediction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/728187\/","title":{"rendered":"Carl Frampton sums up Anthony Joshua&#8217;s performance against Prenga and makes new Tyson Fury prediction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton has revealed who he favours between <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/tyson-fury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyson Fury<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/anthony-joshua\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Joshua<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The two heavyweights are expected to collide later this year, just so long as both sides can agree on a specific date and location.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, though, there appears to be waning interest in their long-awaited showdown after both Brits failed to impress last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>First to the stage was Fury, who left a lot to be desired as he trudged through <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/anthony-joshua-prenga-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">seven rounds of uninspiring action against the 46-year-old Mariusz Wach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But still, the 37-year-old never seemed in any danger of losing, whereas Joshua was almost knocked out within the first 20 seconds of his contest against Kristian Prenga.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018AJ\u2019 then suffered a second knockdown in the opening round, before climbing off the canvas and ultimately stopping his opponent in the following three minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to these two performances, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/news\/frampton-verdict-on-joshua-vs-fury\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Frampton struggled to select a winner<\/a> but is now somewhat confident that Fury has the beating of his domestic rival.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/E5jVs_-nD2M?si=HOnq9tlia2SyVcCP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Boxing Now<\/a>, the Irishman explained that Joshua \u2013 because of his power \u2013 could knock Fury out; however the more likely outcome, he suspects, is a \u2018Gypsy King\u2019 triumph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Joshua] still has a chance \u2013 and Fury didn\u2019t look great in his fight [with Wach]. [But] I\u2019d say a lot of people have Fury as the favourite. I [too] have him as a favourite now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I have it] 60\/40, maybe. [But] it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if AJ lands and takes him out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frampton went on to praise the bravery shown by AJ to climb off the canvas to get the victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery brave performance. The first round was a disaster, it\u2019s a criticism you can throw at AJ a lot, that he starts very slow and you can\u2019t really afford to do that as a heavyweight.
