{"id":728983,"date":"2026-08-06T04:44:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T04:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/728983\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T04:44:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T04:44:53","slug":"hampshire-gp-surgery-defends-performance-after-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/728983\/","title":{"rendered":"Hampshire GP surgery defends performance after concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshirechronicle.co.uk\/news\/26198949.councillor-warns-gp-system-cannot-cope-growing-hampshire-village\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Test Valley borough councillor Amanda Ford raised concerns<\/a> after seeing first-hand the difficulties residents face in accessing care at North Baddesley Surgery.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The independent councillor has called for greater investment in the village&#8217;s GP services to keep pace with the growing population and planned future developments.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She said: &#8220;The system simply cannot cope with the level of demand. The Government\u2019s \u2018build, build, build\u2019 agenda is not being matched with the healthcare infrastructure communities need.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Following the comments, practice leaders said they met with Cllr Ford and two other councillors to discuss issues raised by patients and review the latest data.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The latest 2026 NHS England GP patient survey figures show an overall positive picture at North Baddesley Surgery, with patient responses often higher than the national average.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>North Baddesley Surgery (Image: Google)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Overall patient experience at the practice rose by 6 percentage points to 82 per cent, compared with a national average of 77 per cent.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The practice said overall experience of contacting the surgery increased by 5 per cent to 77 per cent, while the proportion of patients finding it easy to get through on the phone jumped from 40 per cent to 68 per cent.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Online access has also improved, with 62 per cent saying it was easy to contact the practice via its website, up 7 per cent and slightly ahead of the 58 per cent national average.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Around two-thirds of patients felt the wait for their appointment was about right, but roughly a third said it took too long.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Figures show that 16 per cent were seen on the same day, four per cent the next day and 27 per cent within a few days.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, 18 per cent waited between one and two weeks, and 19 per cent reported waiting longer than two weeks.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A spokesperson for the practice said: &#8220;We work closely with our commissioners on demand management and timely patient access and as with other practices in our area, we have measures in place such as additional funded same-day appointments and digital access.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We aim to build lasting relationships with our patients; we value their time and try to make every interaction as efficient and pleasant as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Test Valley borough councillor Amanda Ford raised concerns after seeing first-hand the difficulties residents face in accessing care&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":728984,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[43],"tags":[102,2960,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-728983","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-healthcare","tag-health","tag-healthcare","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/728983","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=728983"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/728983\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/728984"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=728983"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=728983"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=728983"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
