{"id":729404,"date":"2026-08-06T14:02:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T14:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/729404\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T14:02:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T14:02:11","slug":"noman-ali-lancashire-sign-spinner-for-final-six-games-of-county-championship-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/729404\/","title":{"rendered":"Noman Ali: Lancashire sign spinner for final six games of County Championship season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lancashire have signed Pakistan spinner Noman Ali for the final six games of the County Championship season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 39-year-old has taken 101 wickets in 22 Tests since making his first appearance in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Noman is likely to make his Red Rose debut when they play Northamptonshire on 20 August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;His record speaks for itself with the red ball and we believe his experience and know-how will make a real difference to us in these final six Championship games,&#8221; director of cricket performance Mark Chilton <a href=\"https:\/\/cricket.lancashirecricket.co.uk\/news\/2026-news\/lancashire-sign-noman-ali-for-final-six-county-championship-fixtures\/\" class=\"ssrcss-1fqyhkk-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told the club website., external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Noman made his Pakistan debut aged 34 and took five wickets against South Africa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He claimed nine wickets, including 6-42 in the second innings, in his country&#8217;s emphatic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/cricket\/articles\/cpwr59l7xrpo\" class=\"ssrcss-1fqyhkk-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">series-sealing win over England<\/a> in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Meanwhile, Lancashire have also signed all-rounder Ben Walkden on a contract until the end of next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 23-year-old came through the club&#8217;s academy and could now make his debut against Gloucestershire in the One-Day Cup on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Lancashire have signed Pakistan spinner Noman Ali for the final six games of the County Championship season.
