Argentina\u2019s World Cup semi-final win over England<\/a> last month is being commemorated by the country\u2019s football association, the AFA, which has established 15 July as National Football Teams Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe date was chosen to commemorate Argentina\u2019s historic victory over England in the World Cup semi-final,\u201d an article on the AFA\u2019s official website stated after a meeting of its executive board on Wednesday. \u201cLionel Scaloni\u2019s team was trailing the English side by a single goal, but with goals from Enzo Fern\u00e1ndez and Lautaro Mart\u00ednez, they turned the game around, sending the entire nation into a frenzy of celebration.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the tribute isn\u2019t just for that milestone achieved by the senior national team. The recognition, of course, also extends to each and every one of the national teams [youth, men\u2019s and women\u2019s, futsal, beach soccer, and field football], who train daily at the Lionel Andres Messi training complex with the hope, joy and responsibility of representing Argentina.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings<\/a> against the AFA over the displaying of a banner by players at the end of that match proclaiming the Falkland Islands belonged to Argentina.<\/p>\n
