Allow me to introduce you to Future Knight<\/a>, quite possibly the best looking PS5 and PS4 game I\u2019ve ever seen. It\u2019s due out next week, on 13th August.<\/p>\n

Inspired by old LCD handhelds manufactured by Tiger Electronics (or even Nintendo\u2019s own Game & Watch), this side-scrolling shooter has one of the most unique aesthetics I think I\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n

The dev, Studio Koba, has really nailed the look of the pixels overlaid on printed backdrops, with the full campaign consisting of eight different biomes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also batsh*t insane from a narrative perspective, so I\u2019m going to let the official blurb do the heavy lifting here:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is May 23rd, 1993. The Lady of the Past, leader of the \u2018Present\u2019 pyramid scheme cult, has just washed her underwear and, incidentally, wiped the brains of all humanity. Only you, a robot built over 30 years from the remains of a 90s soap opera actor, can stop her. But you are not alone. You have Two More, a benign tumor \u2013 inexplicably powerful and with a life of its own \u2013 living inside you.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, yeah.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned eight biomes occur over the eight hours prior to The Lady of the Past washing her underwear, and you must defeat denizens of baddies to fix the future. Or something.<\/p>\n

As alluded to in the synopsis, gameplay is split between Future Knight, who\u2019s more powerful in combat \u2013 and Two More, who\u2019s capable of wall jumping and squeezing through tight spaces. You can toggle between the two at will.<\/p>\n
