{"id":731302,"date":"2026-08-08T08:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T08:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/731302\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T08:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T08:34:09","slug":"solar-eclipse-in-yorkshire-when-is-it-and-how-can-i-view-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/731302\/","title":{"rendered":"Solar eclipse in Yorkshire: When is it and how can I view it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The best way to view the eclipse is at an elevated location with a clear view to the west, because the sun and moon will be dipping to the horizon ahead of sunset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The sun will be very low in the western sky, which could be a bit of an issue for Yorkshire, Higgins said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;If we were a west coast county, we could all go to the beach and then we&#8217;d have a nice low horizon and we could watch it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;So you need to find a vantage point where your horizon looking west is clear of any obstructions such as trees.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">According to BBC climate correspondent Paul Hudson, the moon should begin blocking the sun between approximately 18:12 and 18:19 BST.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The peak of the eclipse will occur about an hour later, with the whole event ending just after 20:00, before the sun finally sets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Don&#8217;t panic if it seems as though nothing is happening straight away, Higgins added, and even cloudy weather doesn&#8217;t spell disaster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It&#8217;s not suddenly going to whiz past and you&#8217;ll miss it.
