{"id":731348,"date":"2026-08-08T09:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T09:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/731348\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T09:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T09:36:09","slug":"leamington-spa-woman-in-20000-mile-solo-cycle-across-the-americas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/731348\/","title":{"rendered":"Leamington Spa woman in 20,000-mile solo cycle across the Americas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A cyclist believes she is the only woman currently riding solo from the top of North America to the southern tip of South America, as she takes on a 20,000-mile (32,000km) challenge spanning almost two years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Naomi Hancocks from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, set off from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, in June, and plans to cycle all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Eight weeks into the challenge, she has already covered nearly 3,000 miles and encountered grizzly bears, moose and long stretches of wilderness while carrying everything she needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;At the moment, I&#8217;m the only girl on the road cycling solo,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;There are other women cycling, but they&#8217;re with partners or groups.
