Essentially, the riders will have to gauge their efforts perfectly and that is quite difficult I would say.

Then we have a lot of second-tier time trialists which will fight for the win. Ethan Hayter, Rémi Cavagna, Alec Segaert, Stefan Küng and Matteo Sobrero are all in my head logic stage winners for this day. But several others can do it. Someone like Finn Fisher-Black and Magnus Sheffield can specially take advantage of the climbs; Aleksandr Vlasov was second to Evenepoel in one earlier in the season and Iván Romeo is a specialist. Even Sjoerd Bax has been incredibly fast this year.

And when it comes to the GC… Christian Scaroni leads Louis Barré by 3 seconds, Bart Lemmen by 5 and Marco Brenner by 11. It’s anyone’s race to take really, it’s hard to say which way it will go because all riders are of similar ability against the clock. Maybe Lemmen would be the most experienced and used to the time trial bike; but I would say that Jan Christen 23 seconds away, Finn Fisher-Black 28 seconds away and Matteo Sobrero 32 seconds away could also even potentially surprise – if not just with a podium, a full-blown overall win.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 7:

*** Ethan Hayter, Rémi Cavagna

** Alec Segaert, Stefan Küng, Matteo Sobrero

* Finn Fisher-Black, Lorenzo Milesi, Andreas Leknessund, Sjoerd Bax, Mikkel Bjerg, Magnus Sheffield, Iván Romeo, Aleksandr Vlasov, Alberto Bettiol

Pick: Ethan Hayter

Profile stage 7 (ITT): Wieliczka Salt Mine – Wieliczka Salt Mine

Wieliczka Salt Mine – Wieliczka Salt Mine, 12.4 kilometers

The race ends with a time trial starting and finishing in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the most famous tourist attractions in the outskirts of Krakow.

Shorter this time around, the time trial is only 12.4 kilometers long, meaning not many riders can rely on it to win the race. It also features a tough uphill start with 1.7 kilometers at 5.7%; before slowly coming back around and down.

Previous previews

Preview Tour de Pologne 2026 overall classification

The overall classification battle will be quite interesting, and very open when comparing to most World Tour events. The race is mostly suited to puncheurs, but one of the hilly stages features a rather long climb towards the end; and this time around the time trial is short, meaning not many riders can rely on it.

Hence form will be crucial, and so will consistency throughout a variety of different finales that will suit different riders. There are some present that are climbers and will need to push on stage 4 as much as possible such as Santiago Buitrago; whilst the likes of João Almeida and Aleksandr Vlasov can also be very dangerous but do have alternatives in the likes of Jan Christen and Finn Fisher-Black respectively.

There are some that are specially dangerous against the clock such as Matteo Sobrero, Magnus Sheffield, Max Schachmann and Iván Romeo who can indeed make the difference if they have their best level.

Otherwise there will be plenty other classics specialists and puncheurs waiting for their opportunity and an elusive World Tour victory: Paul Lapeira, Andreas Kron, Neilson Powless, Andrea Bagioli and two teams with dangerous trios: Astana with Christian Scaroni, Diego Ulissi and Alberto Bettiol; and Visma with Louis Barré, Wilco Kelderman and Bart Lemmen.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 overall classification:

*** Jan Christen, Finn Fisher-Black, Christian Scaroni

** João Almeida, Louis Barré, Santiago Buitrago, Aleksandr Vlasov

* Iván Romeo, Magnus Sheffieldd, Matteo Sobrero, Diego Ulissi, Neilson Powless, Wilco Keldermann, Max Schachmann

Pick: Jan Christen

Preview Tour de Pologne stage 1

The opening stage will be a bunch sprint, a flat stage however with a small hilltop towards the finale. It won’t drop any of the fast men, but it creates a barrier that some may struggle with, and may favour some in the final kilometers.

The true battle to expect in the opening days of the race is that of Paul Magnier versus Jonathan Milan. The two riders, who dominated the sprints at the Giro d’Italia, meet up once again in Pologne with several well suited stages to begin with. Both have their leadout men present, whilst Lidl does seem to have the advantage in that field.

The competition is strong however, Pologne did attract a strong sprinter field. Jordi Meeus will be present and backed up by Danny van Poppel meaning Red Bull have serious weapons to play; whilst the likes of Juan Sebastián Molano, Sam Welsford, Matteo Moschetti, Noah Hobbs, Matteo Malucelli and Decathlon sprinter Tord Gudmestad are all contenders for the first win of the race.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 1:

*** Jonathan Milan, Paul Magnier

** Jordi Meeus, Juan Sebastián Molano

* Sam Welsford, Tord Gudmestad, Matteo Moschetti, Matteo Malucelli, Noah Hobbs, Marijn van den Berg, Maikel Zijlaard, Paul Penhoët

Pick: Paul Magnier

How: Regular bunch sprint.

Profile stage 1: Gdynia – Koszalin

Gdynia – Koszalin, 234 kilometers

The race starts off in Gdynia and right away with the longest stage of the race. In fact, one of the longest at this point of the year, at a time period where even Grand Tours rarely go above 200 kilometers.

It is a stage that is designed for the sprinters, even if the profile shows a rather difficult finale. There is a hilltop with 1.8 kilometers in length and 3.7% average gradient.

This small ascent ends with 7 kilometers to go, it is unlikely that it will make much of a difference. After a small descent, the final kilometers should see the sprinter teams come to the front in Koszalin.

Preview Tour de Pologne stage 2

A second bunch sprint, unlikely to have a much different scenario or outcome in the fight for the win. Jonathan Milan has the best leadout but he has shown that in a regular flat sprint, he does end up having the legs of Paul Magnier, or even above. The Giro was an outlier, and the two feel more levelled out now. Whether Magnier will be able to get his revenge or not remains to be seen, but Milan was convincing today.

The rest of the competition has speed and in flat sprints anything can happen, but it will be hard to win as we saw the two best deliver today. Jordi Meeus, Noah Hobbs and Juan Sebastián Molano are perhaps more capable of sprinting to victory here.

Matteo Malucelli, Paul Penhoët, Matteo Moschetti, Sam Welsford, Gerben Thijssen, Ivan García Cortina are Hugo Hofstetter are all sprinters to take into consideration here.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 2:

*** Jonathan Milan, Paul Magnier

** Noah Hobbs, Jordi Meeus

* Juan Sebastián Molano, Matteo Malucelli, Paul Penhoët, Matteo Moschetti, Sam Welsford, Gerben Thijssen

Pick: Paul Magnier

How: Revenge victory in the bunch sprint.

Profile stage 2: Miedzyzdroje – Szczecin

Miedzyzdroje – Szczecin, 150 kilometers

Stage 2 of the race begins in Miedzyzdroje and finishes in Szczecin. It is a day that is purely for the sprinters with no chances of surprising, featuring no climbing from start to finish.

The fast men will come to the front on the day and will lead to a very fast and likely tense finale by the riverside.

Preview Tour de Pologne stage 3

The organizers of the Tour de Pologne have created three stages in a row suiting the same riders and so the story of the first two days of the race should be repeated once again.

The big story is Jonathan Milan versus Paul Magnier. The Italian national champion has returned to his best form and has put on two impressive sprints on the opening days of the race, seeing him take the initiative once again in the rivalry between the two. On stage 3, he might win again, even if like today he couldn’t make much use of his leadout.

Magnier has looked strong, but not fast enough to go through Milan. Jordi Meeus has been absent from the fight for victories but on paper is one of the few riders who on his best day can be a challenger to the other two – whilst on paper, Danny van Poppel could lead him out to victory.

Matteo Malucelli, Noah Hobbs, Ivan García Cortina, Sam Welsford and Juan Sebastián Molano are some of the favourites to finish in those positions that follow – although taking a win already seems to be a difficult ask.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 3:

*** Jonathan Milan, Paul Magnier

** Matteo Malucelli, Jordi Meeus

* Noah Hobbs, Juan Sebastián Molano, Ivan García Cortina, Gerben Thijssen, Maikel Zijlaard, Sam Welsford, Paul Penhoët, Matteo Moschetti, Hugo Hofstetter

Pick: Jonathan Milan

How: Regular bunch sprint.

Profile stage 3: Gorzow Wielkopolski – Zielona Góra

Gorzow Wielkopolski – Zielona Góra, 193 kilometers

The third stage of the race is another day for the sprinters, not exactly as pan-flat as the previous one, but unlikely to be interrupted by anyone who isn’t a sprinter.

The day is 193 kilometers in length and the peloton heads towards Zielona Góra. This is the day of the race that best suits the climbers, and if they want to make the difference they will need to not wait for other to take initiative. Bahrain – Victorious could be the one doing it, having in Santiago Buitrago their leader and being the one team that has a climber as a sole leader.

A few teams have more than one option, such as UAE with João Almeida and Jan Christen depending on how the main climb is attacked; or BORA who have Alekandr Vlasov and Finn Fisher-Black for differing scenarios.

The likes of Neilson Powless, Andrea Bagioli, Louis Barré and Christian Scaroni are all very dangerous, as puncheurs who can on their best day handle the climbs quite well and could then go on to take the win on any scenario in that small final climb.

Paul Lapeira, Magnus Sheffield, Max Schachmann, Wilco Kelderman, Andreas Kron, Alberto Bettiol and Diego Ulissi are all men to consider as well.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 4:

*** Santiago Buitrago, Jan Christen

** Finn Fisher-Black, Louis Barré, Christian Scaroni

* João Almeida, Aleksandr Vlasov, Neilson Powless, Andrea Bagioli, Neilson Powless, Paul Lapeira, Max Schachmann, Wilco Kelderman, Andreas Kron

Pick: Santiago Buitrago

How: Small group sprint.

Profile stage 4: Zagan – Karpacz

Zagan – Karpacz, 176 kilometers

The race’s second half begins in the fourth day. The first part of the stage heading off Zagan is still pan-flat, but the riders will be taking on some climbs to make for an interesting finale.

The riders tackle three climbs: The first is Borowice, 4.6 kilometers long at 5.7% and ending with 21 kilometers to go. The quick succession of efforts will make it more difficult.

The main ascent to Karpacz is 7 kilometers long at 6.2%, with an intermediate sprint halfway through and a summit that is a mere 4.5 kilometers to the finish line.

The riders descend and then take on a 1.1-kilometer hilltop right off the ski station, averaging 8% but maxing out at around 15% in what is usually a sprint finish between the climbers.

Preview Tour de Pologne stage 5

This is a stage that is all about the final climb. Today, plenty riders looked to save their bullets towards the final hilltop, and by that point the win was already gone. Bart Lemmen and Christian Scaroni were the strongest and here the dynamics is not too different, with the race leader having to move early and still in the steep part of the climb if he wants to prevent being outsprinted after. But can he?

A tough task, as the climb still is short, and the puncheurs are here in high amount. Finn Fisher-Black, Paul Lapeira, Axel Laurance and Jan Christen are all potential winners for this stage whilst Louis Barré may also have the freedom at Visma to chase his own result.

Plenty others have a shot at doing something here, not excluding the climbers Santiago Buitrago and Aleksandr Vlasov who can benefit if the race is made harder far from the climb still. The GC will be at play, and those who time trial better also have to be distanced.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 5:

*** Christian Scaroni, Finn Fisher-Black, Paul Lapeira

** Bart Lemmen, Axel Laurance, Louis Barré

* Andreas Kron, Matteo Sobrero, Jan Christen, Magnus Sheffield, Andrea Vendrame, Santiago Buitrago, Aleksandr Vlasov,

Pick: Finn Fisher-Black

How: Reduced group sprint.

Profile stage 5: Opole – Kocierz Resort

Opole – Kocierz Resort, 218 kilometers

The fifth stage of the race is also going to be important and prioritizing the steep climbs. Most of the day, with 218 kilometers in length, is pan-flat. But the riders will go back up in the final kilometers.

A first ascent is 4.1 kilometers one at 5.7%, ending with 27.5 kilometers to go, but only serving as a warm-up to the finale which will take place on Kocierz Resort.

The climb is, officially, 1.5 kilometers long at 11.5%. It is an anaerobic effort, but long enough for the climbers to make the difference in such gradient. This part of the climb ends with 1.5 kilometers to go, and most riders will be at the limit.

However the winning attacks may come after, as the final 1.5 still have a false-flat rise to the line where those that survived the climb with something in the legs can create the winning gap then.

Preview Tour de Pologne stage 6

A treacherous stage and one that ideal for a GC raid, but the gaps are so small – and with a small time trial left – that many riders may not want to take many risks and instead just focus on that finale where they may win a stage in an open finale or potentially win some seconds that may prove to be vital.

The climbers and puncheurs are almost alike on this stage. In this case, Bart Lemmen and Marco Brenner look to be the two strongest climbers towards the end of the race, and they may actually be the ones trying to make a move on the penultimate climb which is a longer effort. On the final more explosive climb, they will be more in trouble – although the difference is not too big.

Visma have Louis Barré and Wilco Kelderman at play as well who can be used as cards to either defend the yellow jersey or to put rivals under pressure and to maintain some sort of control over the rest of the field.

For a finale like today Jan Christen is once again a major threat, as is someone like Christian Scaroni, Finn Fisher-Black, Axel Laurance, Paul Lapeira, Alberto Bettiol… The top puncheurs are being consistent and it is hard to see them very differently. Legs on the day and perhaps timing on an attack may be the deciding factor.

Prediction Tour de Pologne 2026 stage 6:

*** Jan Christen, Axel Laurance

** Paul Lapeira, Fabio Christen, Marco Brenner, Christian Scaroni

* Louis Barré, Bart Lemmen, Finn Fisher-Black, Fabio Christen, Albeto Bettiol, Matteo Sobrero, Aleksandr Vlassov, Andrea Vendrame, Iván Romeo

Pick: Axel Laurance

How: Small group sprint win.

Profile stage 6: Bukowina Resort – Bukowina Tatrzanska

Bukowina Resort – Bukowina Tatrzanka, 125 kilometers

The queen stage of the race will take place in the Tatras mountains, with a difficult circuit around Bukowina once again proving to be a great challenge. This is ultimately the Tour de Pologne’s signature queen stage, one where a lot can happen.

It is 125 kilometers in length, featuring seven categorized climbs from start to finish. It is a day where a lot can happen, with several steep climbs to be tackled. The final circuit includes three ascents of Sciana Bukowina which is 1.6 kilometers long at 10% but features ramps well above that average gradient.

They end with 61, 36 and 13 kilometers to go. The climb begins already after after a few kilometers of false-flat roads, and inbetween climbs there is only descending and some small hilltops. The riders tackle it for the first time already with two other steep ascents in the legs.

The differences are likely to be made there, on territory where climbers and classics specialists alike can make the difference; and where sattelite riders can make a huge impact in the race.

If that climb is unable to make or break the race, the finale is still uphill, with the road up to Bukowina Tatrzanka featuring around 4 kilometers at 5.5%, with some steeper gradients also involved.

List of winners Tour de Pologne 2026 Year1st2nd3rd2025Brandon McNultyAntonio
