Directed by Mu Zhengyang, the local hit pushed its total cumulative box office to $210.6 million since its July 18 release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDirty Monkeys and Damai Entertainment\u2019s\u201dOnce Upon a Time in the Middle East\u201d surged into third place with $15 million from preview screenings. Directed by Wen Muye (\u201cDying to Survive\u201d) and co-written with Lang Qunli and Wei Zhong, the film stars Shen Teng as Xu Fu, a chef who moves to the Middle East to work at a Chinese restaurant to clear family debts. Teaming up with floor manager Ma Junsheng (Jiang Qiming), the duo turns the Dragon Restaurant into a popular local dining destination, only for their lives to be upended when armed conflict erupts across the region. The feature is scheduled to make its official nationwide theatrical debut on Aug. 11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEnlight Pictures\u2019 animated fantasy \u201cTo Your Island\u201d opened in fourth position, generating $7.9 million over its three-day premiere weekend.
