made an NRL switch for next season in a move that will seems to confirm the fact George Williams will see out his contract with Warrington Wolves.

Williams has made clear his intent to head Down Under and there had been talks that he would leave his deal early, however, he has committed to stay in Super League and that’s seen a former Super League man snapped up on what appears to be a stop-gap dela.

Brad Schneider joined Hull KR on a mid-season loan in 2023, and featured 12 times for Willie Peters’ men as they made it to the semi-finals of the playoffs.

However, his most important contribution didn’t come in the league, as he became a match-winning hero when his long-range drop goal sailed over to defeat Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup semi-final.

Moving back to the NRL for 2024, he joined reigning champions Penrith Panthers on a two-year deal, and has appeared 27 times, partnering stars such as Jarome Luai and Nathan Cleary in the halves.

With his contract expiring, he will now join a new club for 2026, as he moves to The Dolphins, currently coached by former St Helens boss Kristian Woolf, on a one-year deal.

Dolphins CEO, Terry Reader, was pleased to get Schneider’s deal over the line, and hopes he can provide tough competition for his fellow halfbacks.

“Brad is a great signing for us as someone who has the experience of being part of the Panthers’ 2024 Premiership as well as playing in a Challenge Cup Final in front of a packed Wembley Stadium,” said Reader.

“He gives us another great option in an important position as we continue to build our roster for the future.”

What the former Hull KR man’s move means for George Williams

It has been widely reported that The Dolphins were considering making a move for Warrington Wolves halfback George Williams.

Williams has been very vocal on his desire to return to Australia, after representing Canberra Raiders in 2020 and 2021.

However, the addition of Schneider now means that the Brisbane-based side now has starlet Isaiah Katoa, Kodi Nikorima and Schneider as their halfback options in 2026.

England captain Williams has committed to staying with the Wolves until his contract expires at the end of next year, but a move in 2027 could still be on the cards.

Both Schneider and Nikorima’s contract will expire in 2026, meaning Williams, who turns 31 in October, could potentially head down under then.

                       <img decoding="async"
