{"id":733787,"date":"2026-08-10T19:34:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/733787\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T19:34:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:34:13","slug":"apple-releases-ios-26-6-1-beta-for-iphone-plus-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/733787\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple releases iOS 26.6.1 beta for iPhone, plus more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ios-26-6-lg-iphone.jpg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/08\/10\/ios-27-beta-5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">released beta 5<\/a> for iOS 27 and companion updates, but the company also shipped a surprise second wave of betas, for iOS 26.6.1, macOS 26.6.2 and more.<\/p>\n<p>Betas arrive for iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, and macOS 26.6.2<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019ve been running Apple\u2019s beta software, there are two options available today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iOS 27 beta 5 has finally arrived after a three-week wait, continuing Apple\u2019s summer-long preparation for its next major software version.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Apple has also just shipped a new wave of betas for iOS 26 and its companion updates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beta 1 is here for iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, and macOS 26.6.2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s unusual for Apple to offer betas for such minor software updates. Instead, the company typically just ships minor point releases immediately with no prior notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s possible these releases are in lieu of a larger update like iOS 26.7 coming. But whatever the reason, Apple clearly saw a reason to ship these new iOS 26 updates as betas before they release to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re expecting nothing but security updates and bug fixes in iOS 26.6.1 and more. We\u2019ll keep you posted on any specific changes we discover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: if you\u2019ve already upgraded your iPhone to the iOS 27 beta, you won\u2019t see the option of installing iOS 26.6.1.
