The Destin Daniel Cretton movie is now the 12th highest-grossing ever at the worldwide box office with $1.67B ($654.3M domestic, $1.013B overseas). Brand New Day is chasing history with more records in store and $2 billion global within its reach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brand New Day becomes the 16th movie to gross north of $1B at the foreign box office. Read on, as we have more deep-dive stats on each territory\u2019s milestones and records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Sunday, Universal\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-odyssey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-odyssey\" data-tag=\"the-odyssey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Odyssey<\/a> became <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/box-office-the-odyssey-christopher-nolan-record-1237029568\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Nolan\u2019s highest-grossing movie <\/a>ever of his career with $1.1B.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brand New Day <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/box-office-spider-man-brand-new-day-one-night-only-1237028481\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">charted $144.2M stateside<\/a>, the third-highest second weekend ever at the North American B.O. and one of eight movies to gross more than $100M in its second weekend. Pic\u2019s $654.3M stateside running cume is the most a movie has ever made over 10 days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/spider-man-brand-new-day-box-office-records-1237016328\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1237016328\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Spider-Man: Brand New Day\u2019: All The Box Office Records Broken<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the most part, the movie was No. 1 everywhere in its 67 markets at 72,800-plus screens \u2014 except for Korea, where Universal\u2019s The Odyssey grabbed No. 1 with a take of $14.5M. Brand New Day was at  $10.9M there, down 46%, for a running cume of $43.4M; that up 25% over No Way Home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brand New Day was also second in Japan to local animation title Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island\u2018s third weekend (that pic having \u00a51.699B while Spidey had \u00a5629M or $4M, -60%, $18.6M cume (14% over No Way Home). Rentrak reports Chiikawa\u2018s overall take in three territories (notably Japan, Hong Kong) was $11.95M, No. 7 for the global weekend with a running cume of $45M.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the global second weekend for the Tom Holland-Zendaya movie is $381.3M with $237.1M coming from offshore, a 47% ease.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China\u00a0again led the international weekend with\u00a0$29.1M\u00a0for a cume of\u00a0$186.7M.\u00a0Brand New Day became\u00a0<a data-id=\"1237029987\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/spider-man-brand-new-day-sony-india-box-office-1237029987\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">India\u2019s biggest Hollywood release ever<\/a>, after a\u00a0$10.6M\u00a0weekend taking its tally to\u00a0$52.8M. Brand New Day also became No. 1 MPA title of all-time in Pakistan with $539K 2nd weekend, -42%, $2.1M cume. United Arab Emirates had a $3.3M second frame, -54%, $12.8M cume, making it the No. 2 MPA title of all time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brazil\u00a0delivered the frame\u2019s best hold among top 10 markets, -31% for\u00a0$14M\u00a0and a\u00a0$46.9M\u00a0cume. Brand New Day is the No. 1 movie of all time in that territory after two weekends in release, up 40% over Spider-Man: No Way Home and 4% over Avengers: Endgame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain\u2019s $4.9M (-49%) second weekend and $28.6M running cume makes it the No. 1 pic of all time there, 81% above No Way Home and 17% over Endgame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other places where Brand New Day is the top-grossing MPA movie ever after two weekends in release include Peru ($3.3M, -46%, $14.1M cume; +81% over No Way Home, +17% over Endgame) and Italy ($6.4M weekend, -53%, $31.2M cume; +57% over No Way Home, +3% over Endgame).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Philippines ($5.4M weekend, -43%, $17.2M cume), the pic is No. 2 of all time, 7x bigger than No Way Home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other top weekend results are UK ($16.2M, -49%,\u00a0$87.6M\u00a0cume; 13% over Endgame),\u00a0Mexico\u00a0($15.3M, -51%,\u00a0$65.9M\u00a0cume on par with No Way Home and Endgame),\u00a0France\u00a0($14.9M, -46%,\u00a0$50.2M\u00a0cume; 20% over Endgame),\u00a0Australia\u00a0($12M, -44%,\u00a0$39.1M\u00a0cume; 26% over No Way Home) and\u00a0Germany\u00a0($10.9M, -32%,\u00a0$38.1M\u00a0cume, 87% over No Way Home).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malaysia was $4.6M, -39%, $14.2M cume, 46% over No Way Home, Indonesia was $4.4M weekend, -43% in its second frame, with $13.7M on par with No Way Home; Colombia was $4.5M, -21% in weekend 2 with $13.3M, 3% over Endgame; while Central America was $3.1M, -42% in weekend 2, $11.3M cume, 45% over No Way Home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To summarize (and to even repeat), Brand New Day has passed the lifetime of No Way Home in the following markets: Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Slovakia, Suriname, Thailand, Trinidad &amp; Tobago, Turkey, UAE, Venezuela and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"503\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-07-16-at-2.43.05-PM-e1784239276327.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1236984628\"  \/>\u2018The Odyssey\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Universal\u2019s The Odyssey saw a fourth global weekend of $113.6M with $81.9M from overseas ($649.9M running foreign cume) and $31.7M domestic ($461.3M). It\u2019s ranked No. 2 for the global weekend. As we told you at $1.11 billion, it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/box-office-the-odyssey-christopher-nolan-record-1237029568\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the second-biggest R-rated movie ever <\/a>behind Deadpool &amp; Wolverine\u2018s $1.33B.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Korea\u2019s start of $14.4M is the biggest of Nolan\u2019s career in the market,\u00a0ahead of\u00a0The Dark Knight Rises. It\u2019s also Uni\u2019s second-biggest opening weekend ever, only behind\u00a0JW: Fallen Kingdom. It also achieved the\u00a0biggest ever August opening weekend for an MPA title, and the\u00a0second-biggest MPA opening weekend of the year behind\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/spider-man-brand-new-day\/\" id=\"auto-tag_spider-man-brand-new-day\" data-tag=\"spider-man-brand-new-day\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>. Odyssey owned 44% share of the whole market on Saturday. This follows a fantastic Wednesday start that achieved\u00a0the studio\u2019s biggest non-holiday opening day ever in the market, the\u00a0second-biggest MPA opening day of the year\u00a0behind\u00a0Spider-Man, and the third\u00a0biggest opening day ever for a Nolan film in Korea behind\u00a0Oppenheimer\u00a0(which released on a national holiday) and\u00a0Dark Knight Rises. Audience reactions are excellent, with a great CGV Egg Score of 97%. Imax drove close to 20% of pic\u2019s opening-day gross. In its opening weekend alone, Odyssey bested the lifetimes of No Time to Die and Tenet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UK and Ireland saw $7.1M for a running cume of $82.4M, making Odyssey the No. 2 pic in the market behind Brand New Day and Nolan\u2019s biggest pic ever in his native land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">France\u2019s weekend 4 added $7.1M for a $60.8M cume through Sunday, surpassing the lifetime of Top Gun: Maverick. And, yes, Nolan\u2019s biggest title in the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Germany added $5.2M for a $39.4M cume, the pic being Nolan\u2019s second-biggest film in the market, having overtaken the lifetime of\u00a0Dark Knight Rises\u00a0earlier in the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Italy saw $4.6M in weekend 4 and a $50.6M cume through Sunday above all key comps at the same point including for\u00a0Avatar: The Way of Water.\u00a0The Odyssey\u00a0is a strong No . 2 behind\u00a0Spider-Man.\u00a0The movie is Nolan\u2019s biggest ever in Italy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Australia grossed $3.7M in its fourth frame, and with a $33M running total; it\u2019s Nolan\u2019s biggest ever in the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mexico grossed $3.1M in weekend 4 with $30.6M, also the Oscar-winning filmmaker\u2019s biggest there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain\u00a0added $2.5M in weekend 4 to reach a cume of $29.8M, overtaking the lifetime of\u00a0Oppenheimer\u00a0this week to\u00a0become Nolan\u2019s biggest film ever in the market. Pic ranked second behind\u00a0Spider-Man: Brand New Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0Netherlands\u00a0saw $2.1M in its fourth session for a $15.6M cume through Sunday, now Nolan\u2019s second-biggest film\u00a0in the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brazil\u00a0also added $2M in weekend 4 an $18.5M cume through Sunday. It\u2019s the director\u2019s biggest there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\u00a0Saudi Arabia,\u00a0The Odyssey\u00a0is\u00a0Nolan\u2019s biggest film in the market, having overtaken the lifetime of\u00a0Oppenheimer\u00a0earlier in the week. Weekend 4 minted $1.8M to reach $14.4M cume to-date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the No. 3 spot was Paramount\/Spin Master\u2019s PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie with a $23M weekend and a $25M foreign B.O. running cume from 30 territories, a 75% foreign footprint. The pic opens Friday in the U.S.\/Canada in addition to 22 more territories, with another 12 markets to follow thereafter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pic\u2019s top 10 highest openings included: China at No. 7 grossing\u00a0$5.5M\u00a0at 10,830 locations,\u00a0France No. 3 grossing\u00a0$4.5M\u00a0including paid previews at 734 locations,\u00a0UK with $2.2M in No. 3 with paid previews at 620 sites, Germany No. 3 with $2.2M and paid previews and at 593 theaters, Poland saw a No. 2 bow with $1.3M at 295 locations including previews, Spain\u00a0opened No. 3 grossing\u00a0$745,000\u00a0at 361 locations,\u00a0Netherlands saw a No. 3 opening but with $615K including previews at 133 locations, Denmark No. 3 with $504K plus previews at 115 sites, Norway No. 3 with $431K at 118 theaters, and Sweden notched third with $396K including previews at 112 locations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China\u2019s family movie All Wishes Come True ranked fourth on the global weekend chart with $19.4M after four weekends in release with a running cume of $208.3M. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"551\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/TOYSTORY5_ONLINE-USE_t110.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1236941055\"  \/>\u2018Toy Story 5\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toy Story 5 with $1.094B running cume is now Pixar\u2019s third-highest global-grossing pic ever ahead of Toy Story 3 ($1.067B) and Toy Story 4 ($1.074B), and, yes, the best in the franchise. It\u2019s now the No. 8 MPA animated global theatrical release. The pic\u2019s eighth global weekend was $13.2M in the No. 5 spot ($3.9M domestic, $9.3M from 52 territories), with North American running cume at $470.4M and foreign at $623.6M.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/gallery\/highest-grossing-animated-movies-all-time\/\" data-type=\"pmc-gallery\" data-id=\"1235984884\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The 30 Highest-Grossing Animated Films Of All Time At The Global Box Office<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toy Story 5 remains the No. 1 non-local release YTD in Japan ($65.7M) and Mexico ($78M, best territory outside U.S.\/Canada) as well as Argentina ($23.9M), Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay and the Latin America region as a whole.
