{"id":734158,"date":"2026-08-11T03:48:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T03:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/734158\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T03:48:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T03:48:13","slug":"jordan-spieth-achieves-feat-never-before-seen-on-the-pga-tour-as-he-qualifies-for-fedex-cup-playoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/734158\/","title":{"rendered":"Jordan Spieth achieves feat never before seen on the PGA Tour as he qualifies for FedEx Cup playoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMWcxajNfc2h3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hitc.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>Jordan Spieth has experienced a really challenging 2026 PGA Tour season.<\/p>\n<p>Spieth is still waiting for his first PGA Tour win since April 2022 and the harder he works on his game, the more he seems to struggle.<\/p>\n<p>However, the 33-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has made the FedEx Cup playoffs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hitc.com\/topic\/jordan-spieth\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"98394\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan Spieth<\/a> ended the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hitc.com\/topic\/pga-tour\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"98401\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PGA Tour<\/a> season in 54th position in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hitc.com\/topic\/fedex-cup\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"98963\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FedEx Cup<\/a> standings.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GettyImages-2273905381-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Jordan Spieth during the first round of the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral\" class=\"wp-image-2555429\" \/>Photo by Carmen Mandato\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The three-time major champion will need to play well this week in Memphis if he is to move on to the BMW Championship the following week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hitc.com\/what-jordan-spieth-has-done-since-the-open-is-a-sign-that-four-year-winless-run-is-getting-to-him\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spieth has kept an unusually low profile since The Open Championship<\/a>, refusing to partake in as many media duties as he has done previously.<\/p>\n<p>However, he will be buoyed by his top-20 finish at the Wyndham Championship last week, and qualifying for the FedEx Cup playoffs will undoubtedly have boosted his confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Spieth achieves feat never before seen on the PGA Tour<\/p>\n<p>Spieth will tee it up at TPC Southwind for the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The 13-time PGA Tour winner will be looking to record his first top-10 finish of the season in Memphis.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s quite incredible to think that Spieth has not finished inside the top-10 all season long, yet still managed to qualify for the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Spieth\u2019s achievement is even more remarkable than you may think.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GettyImages-2279795752-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Jordan Spieth of the United States walks from the second tee during the first round of the the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday 2026 at Muirfield Village Golf Club\" class=\"wp-image-2571557\" \/>Photo by Dylan Buell\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because he has become the first golfer to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs without recording a top-10 finish throughout the regular season since the PGA Tour changed the qualifying threshold to 70 players.<\/p>\n<p>What that does show is that despite the fact that Spieth has received plenty of criticism for his performances this season, he has been incredibly consistent.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Spieth\u2019s PGA Tour results in 2026<\/p>\n<p>Spieth has only missed three cuts in 21 PGA Tour starts this season.<\/p>\n<p>Although Spieth has zero top-10s to his name, he has racked up nine top-25 finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the key, though: four of those have been top-12 finishes.<\/p>\n<p>One of those came at The Masters and two of them were in Signature Events \u2013 the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Genesis Invitational.<\/p>\n<p>So, Jordan Spieth stockpiled the vast majority of his FedEx Cup points in huge PGA Tour events.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously his main aim will be to return to the PGA Tour winners\u2019 circle as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>However, qualifying for the FedEx Cup playoffs should not be written off as nothing.
