Emmerdale fans might notice a familiar face tonight in the aftermath of Dr Todd’s dramatic death<\/a>. Dean Smith will appear as DC Price during the opening scenes of the episode, as Sarah Sugden and Charity Dingle are arrested<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Smith is best known for playing schoolboy Philip Ryan on the original Waterloo Road, but eagle-eyed viewers may also remember him appearing briefly on the ITV soap back in 2022.<\/p>\n

The actor played Prison Officer Beeker, who villain Meena Jutla flirted with in her cell, after finally being caught for her various murders. <\/p>\n

This isn’t the first (or second time) Smith has played a law enforcer, as he also had a semi-regular role in Hollyoaks, appearing as DS Yates between 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in soapland, the star popped up for three episodes of Coronation Street back in 2019, playing a counsellor to Paul Forman. His career has included roles in Last Tango in Halifax, Doctors, Still Open All Hours and Casualty. <\/p>\n

Smith will be starring opposite newcomer Chelsea Edge<\/a>, who joins Emmerdale as DS Ramsden. Tonight’s episode sees the pair begin their investigation into Dr Todd’s death \u2013 which viewers know was a result of being pushed by Sarah.<\/p>\n

While overhearing the tense showdown between Charity and Todd, Sarah was horrified to learn the details of her gran’s sexual assault. Furious Sarah shoved the doctor who hit her head on the table as she fell, dying from the injury.<\/p>\n

Upcoming episodes will see Charity and Sarah scrambling to get their stories straight<\/a> as they try to avoid prison. But will the new detectives believe their version of events? <\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
