Rikky Hype organizes Kyiv retail space around material contrast<\/p>\n

Designed by Temp Project, led by Anastasiia Tempynska, Rikky Hype\u2019s flagship store<\/a> occupies 160 sqm within a postwar building on Khreshchatyk, Kyiv\u2019s<\/a> main street. Located opposite the historic Bessarabian Market, the showroom responds to its urban context through an interior<\/a> organized around material contrasts, reflective surfaces, and a sequence of retail spaces.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Large storefront windows connect the interior with the surrounding city, framing views toward one of Kyiv\u2019s active public areas and its mix of creative communities, office workers, and market vendors. Instead of providing a neutral setting for the fashion collections, the design translates the visual identity of the Ukrainian brand into an architectural language based on tactility, distortion, and shifting surfaces.<\/p>\n

The existing interior was completely reorganized to accommodate men\u2019s and women\u2019s collections alongside sportswear, lingerie, swimwear, and accessories. Several planning scenarios were developed to establish an intuitive circulation route while balancing the different retail programs. The sequence begins at the entrance, where reception, checkout, and accessories displays are grouped together, and continues into a central lounge and dedicated retail zones before reaching private fitting rooms at the rear.<\/p>\n

Raw textures and reflective surfaces shape showroom\u2019s interior<\/p>\n

Materiality forms the primary design language of the showroom by Temp Project\u2019s designer<\/a> Anastasiia Tempynska. Rough plaster introduces textured surfaces that contrast with warm cork finishes and sculptural furniture characterized by curved, flowing forms. Integrated steel structures and mesh screens add an industrial element to the interior, while mirrors operate as architectural surfaces rather than simple functional fixtures.<\/p>\n

The mirrors distort, fragment, and multiply reflections, making changing perceptions of the space part of the retail experience. A cracked mirror embedded within textured plaster introduces another variation on this treatment, combining an irregular reflective surface with the roughness of the surrounding wall.<\/p>\n

A key material element is the extensive use of iridescent metal with a gasoline-like finish. Its development required a surface treatment capable of shifting in color according to lighting conditions and viewing angle. The resulting changes in appearance introduce movement into the otherwise static interior and reinforce the project\u2019s focus on perception and material behavior.<\/p>\n

Contrasting forms and materials define the spatial experience<\/p>\n

Despite the range of textures and finishes, the interior maintains a restrained spatial composition. Several custom elements act as focal points, including a rotating mirror at the checkout, a curved sculptural sofa, and the cracked mirror integrated into the plaster wall.<\/p>\n

The material palette combines warm and cold surfaces, soft and rigid forms, and tactile and reflective finishes. These contrasts provide an architectural interpretation of the brand\u2019s visual identity without relying on literal symbolism. The relationship between materials, furniture, mirrors, and circulation creates a retail environment in which perception changes as visitors move through the space.<\/p>\n

Through its spatial organization and material strategy, Rikky Hype\u2019s flagship store extends the identity of the fashion brand into its physical environment. The project combines retail functionality with a sequence of contrasting surfaces, reflective elements, and custom architectural details, positioning the interior as an active component of the shopping experience.<\/p>\n
