{"id":734796,"date":"2026-08-11T18:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T18:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/734796\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T18:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T18:28:10","slug":"lucy-davis-the-office-actress-says-she-has-incurable-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/734796\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucy Davis: The Office actress says she has &#8216;incurable&#8217; cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Birmingham-born Davis played the sympathetic and witty receptionist Dawn, who was also the love interest of Tim Canterbury, played by Martin Freeman in Ricky Gervais&#8217;s TV comedy classic &#8211; which last month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/iplayer\/episodes\/m002zl7b\/ricky-gervais-celebrates-25-years-of-the-office\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">celebrated its 25th anniversary.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After The Office, Davis went on to feature as Dianne in 2004 comedy-horror film Shaun of the Dead and Etta Candy in 2017&#8217;s Wonder Woman, as well as Hilda Spellman in Netflix series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">More recently, she played Eva in the Disney Channel&#8217;s action comedy series The Villains of Valley View.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In her Instagram post &#8211; which was accompanied by a video of her reading a poem while ringing a bell in hospital &#8211; she went on to say she intended to keep up her work supporting animal rights, which is &#8220;so important to me&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She went on: &#8220;I still would like to keep working. I&#8217;m perfectly able to do so, and acting is one of the biggest joys in my life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well. Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally.
