Millions of energy customers across Britain are set to benefit from a total of \u00a3750 in discounts on their bills over the coming five winters. <\/p>\n

The Warm Home Discount Scheme has been confirmed for extension through to winter 2030\/31, with qualifying households receiving \u00a3150 off their electricity costs each year.<\/p>\n

Customers of major suppliers such as British Gas, Octopus Energy, EDF, and E.ON Next stand to gain from the continued support, provided they remain eligible throughout the five-year period.<\/p>\n

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero confirmed the extension at the end of July, covering England, Wales, and Scotland. <\/p>\n

Rather than being paid as a lump sum, the annual \u00a3150 reduction is applied directly to electricity bills by energy suppliers. <\/p>\n

Households that consistently meet the qualifying conditions each year will accumulate \u00a3750 in savings by the final winter of the scheme in 2030\/31.<\/p>\n

Currently, 24 energy suppliers are participating in the programme, ensuring broad coverage for eligible customers nationwide.<\/p>\n

The scheme for winter 2026\/27 is due to reopen in October, with the \u00a3150 discount applied directly by suppliers to qualifying customers’ bills. <\/p>\n

The full roster of 24 participating providers spans a wide range of the market: 100Green, Boost, British Gas, E, Ecotricity, EDF, EnergyCoop, E.ON Next, Fuse Energy, Good Energy, Home Energy, London Power, Octopus Energy, Outfox Energy, OVO, Sainsbury’s Energy, ScottishPower, So Energy, Square 1 Energy, TruEnergy, Tulo Energy, Utilita, and Utility Warehouse.<\/p>\n

To qualify in England and Wales, the billpayer must be in receipt of Housing Benefit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit, or Universal Credit. <\/p>\n

Crucially, they need to be named on their electricity bill by August 23, 2026 for the discount to be applied automatically.<\/p>\n

Scottish households face slightly different criteria. The rebate is granted automatically where the customer or their partner receives Pension Credit, claims additional Universal Credit owing to a disability or health condition, or receives certain disability or pensioner premiums alongside income-related ESA or a Support for Mortgage Interest loan.<\/p>\n
