{"id":735044,"date":"2026-08-11T23:52:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T23:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/735044\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T23:52:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T23:52:24","slug":"seal-pup-being-cared-for-by-guernsey-animal-rescue-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/735044\/","title":{"rendered":"Seal pup being cared for by Guernsey animal rescue charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The last common seal pup which needed rescue washed ashore in poor condition in 2018, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c3wllwxzqqgo\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GSPCA<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Unlike grey seals, which are often seen in local waters, they are seldom born in Guernsey and the animals which arrive &#8220;have often travelled considerable distances and can be exhausted, underweight and vulnerable,&#8221;  according to the charity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The team at the GSPA planned to asses the pup&#8217;s condition and oversee its recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Common seals are one of two native species and can swim almost immediately after birth.
