Holger Rune is targeting a return from an Achilles tendon injury at the upcoming Davis Cup tie for Denmark against Bulgaria on 18-19 September in Hillerod.<\/p>\n
Having been sidelined for roughly 11 months since suffering the injury in October 2025, Rune<\/a> confirmed his recovery is reaching its final stages.<\/p>\n Holger Rune revealed on the podcast “Andy Roddick’s Served” that he is eyeing a comeback in about a month at the Davis Cup tie on home soil in Hillerod.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re looking at starting with the Davis Cup at home. That could be an option. I\u2019d love to make my comeback on home turf in front of all my Danish fans. It would be fantastic. As we get closer, we\u2019ll have to see whether I\u2019m ready or not. That\u2019s where our focus is right now.”<\/p>\n “I\u2019m starting to see light at the end of the tunnel now,” says the Danish tennis star, who also explains that the subsequent plan is to head to Asia to play in Tokyo and Shanghai in October.<\/p>\n The Davis Cup tie against Bulgaria<\/a> takes place on 18-19 September, with Denmark<\/a> once again attempting to earn promotion to the elite level.<\/p>\n The Danish Tennis Federation has also shared a post on Instagram featuring Holger Rune on the promotional poster alongside August Holmgren<\/a> and Elmer Moller<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the podcast, Holger Rune also discusses how he is increasingly able to focus on things on the court rather than the physical aspects off-court.<\/p>\n Right now, he has been training at full intensity for the equivalent of one and a half sets, and the plan is to gradually ramp things up over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n “Things are definitely moving in the right direction, but it\u2019s also a matter of being able to sustain that over many consecutive days and stringing together multiple training sessions.
