People have been evacuated after a large fire involving five bungalows in south Wales.<\/p>\n
Residents were moved to a nearby leisure centre following the fire at Hazlewood Road, Newbridge in Caerphilly county. There are no reports of casualties.<\/p>\n
Councillor Adrian Hussey said some people had lost their homes and were being offered temporary accommodation.<\/p>\n
He said residents tried to put out the fire but had to evacuate due to its severity.<\/p>\n
“The houses were absolutely gutted. Their cars were damaged too,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The streets around the area were all evacuated and people went to the leisure centre.”<\/p>\n
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a callout on Wednesday at 16:00 BST.<\/p>\n
The Welsh Ambulance Service also sent a specialist team and two ambulances.<\/p>\n
