In a certain sense, Laurent Mekies<\/a> is not to be envied. In the middle of a season, when the performances are not as desired, he has been appointed team boss to get Red Bull Racing<\/a> back on track towards victories. A substantial challenge, one that many would have preferred to have taken on at the start of a new season. <\/p>\n

At the start of a new season, it is in principle easier to make adjustments or go in a different direction, than to turn the oil tanker during the year – with races following each other at a rapid pace.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Wheatley<\/a> knows all about that. After a long period in various functions at Red Bull Racing, he started his job at ambitious Sauber – from next season Audi’s factory team – at the beginning of this season, after a preparation and two Grands Prix have already been completed.\"Jonathan<\/p>\n

Wheatley recognizes ‘challenge’ at Red BullAbout what awaits Mekies, the Brit says to, among others, GPblog: “I think it\u2019s a challenge, but everything about being a team principal of a Formula 1<\/a> team is a challenge. You can\u2019t always choose when you start the position, and you have to make the most of it.”<\/p>\n

For him, the first few months at Audi were ‘a very intense period’. Yet Wheatley also states: “I have to say I\u2019ve loved every second: the new challenges, the energy, the atmosphere in the team. And of course, that\u2019s just getting stronger, and the energy is just getting more intense as a result of our performances recently.”<\/p>\n

With this, Wheatley is undoubtedly referring to the British Grand Prix, in which Nico Hulkenberg won a surprise third place on behalf of Sauber.<\/p>\n
