At a three-hour Guns N\u2019 Roses show at New Jersey\u2019s MetLife Stadium, Axl Rose<\/a> revealed that he suffers from Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).<\/p>\n

The frontman took to the stage in front of around 82,500 fans on August 12th, but he wasn\u2019t quite 100 per cent up for the challenge as he revealed that he was in active recovery from a procedure to correct TMJ.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had really crazy TMJ,\u201d Rose admitted to the fans, adding, \u201cWhen I\u2019m singing it\u2019s kind of like somebody\u2019s in my ear, like Bugs Bunny is eating in my ear a carrot<\/a> and celery and it\u2019s popping around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Humorously, he recalled that during the procedure, \u201cI had to do a tube. I had that done a couple of days ago. So now, this side of my mouth [pointing to his left side] is still numb \u2026 it gets interesting. It\u2019s challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rose deadpanned, \u201cYou\u2019re singing and you hear sounds, and you\u2019re like \u2026 none of the doctors, none of the dentists \u2014 there\u2019s really no way to describe what you do, and with TMJ they tell ya, \u2018Try not to chew!\u2019 Okay I won\u2019t eat.\u201d<\/p>\n

His rant continued (per Billboard<\/a>), \u201cSecond, you really can\u2019t describe \u2014 you stretch your face in so many ways trying to sing like I do!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you hear all these sounds while you\u2019re singing, and you hear sounds that, like, make you go, \u2018I really probably shouldn\u2019t be doing what I\u2019m doing, because that sound sounds like my jaw\u2019s gonna fall off<\/a> or go to the side or get stuck that way,\u201d he explained, adding, \u201cWhich, that would be pretty funny!\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Rose\u2019s facial numbness, the band soared through plenty of hits during the 2026 World Tour show at MetLife after opening with \u2018Patience\u2019 and \u2018Welcome to the Jungle\u2019.<\/p>\n

Rose was joined on stage by Slash<\/a>, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus and Isaac Carpenter.<\/p>\n

Later in the set, he put the TMJ jokes aside and delivered a message meant to inspire togetherness: \u201cWe must all stick together and build a world of unity. So if y\u2019all understand me and ya\u2019ll are with me, just remember, like I said: There\u2019s only one race, my people, and that\u2019s the human race.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guns N\u2019 Roses are next set to perform at Busch Stadium in St Louis on August 16th.<\/p>\n
