A ban on cycling on the Isle of Man’s Mountain Road is set to come into force for the duration for the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT races.<\/p>\n
The restriction will be in place on the A18 between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg Ny Baa from 09:30 BST on Friday until 16:30 on 31 August. The road is a major route between the north of the Isle of Man and the capital, Douglas.<\/p>\n
The Isle of Man Constabulary said “multiple people” had been arrested for flouting the ban during the TT period in June despite clear signage in place.<\/p>\n
“Please follow the signs and instructions in place, they are there to protect you and others,” the force added.<\/p>\n
The ban on cycling on the mountain section of the 37.7-mile (67km) TT course during racing events was first introduced almost a decade ago.<\/p>\n
Although the stretch is made one-way during June’s TT races each year, the road remains two-way during the August event.<\/p>\n
