\t\t\t\tSeveral LIV Golf players have entered DP World Tour Q School as uncertainty over the league\u2019s future continues.<\/p>\n
The rampant uncertainty that has enveloped LIV Golf for months has left many of the league\u2019s biggest names and brightest talents pondering their futures, but some players may be ejected regardless.<\/p>\n
With LIV\u2019s team finale in Michigan now cancelled<\/a> in all but an official statement, the league will convene for the final time in 2026 at the Chatham Hills Club in Indianapolis next week. And lost in the existential talk of LIV\u2019s survival hopes in a post-Saudi era is what, in any typical week, would be a hugely consequential week on the fairways. At the start of the season, LIV increased its relegation positions from six to 11 to prove to the Official World Golf ranking board that the league was not a closed shop. <\/p>\n A huge churn of players is almost guaranteed before LIV 2.0 \u2013 a reimagined league touted with 10 events and scaled back purses \u2013 but the league\u2019s bosses have not indicated that relegation will be chalked off to widen its potential player pool next season. The circumstances are extraordinary but failing to prove its meritocratic pathways would also threaten LIV\u2019s OWGR status<\/a>.<\/p>\n Michael La Sasso is currently 53rd in the season-long standings<\/a>, in the Drop Zone, and on the brink of the chop \u2013 but is surely a player LIV would ideally like to build around. The 22-year-old was the NCAA champion last year and forfeited a place in the Masters to join Phil Mickelson\u2019s HyFlyers team.<\/p>\n But the swashbuckling American\u2019s first season in the professional ranks has undeniably been a baptism of fire. He has not broken the top-30 in 11 starts and has been unfortunate that his captain Mickelson \u2013 who helped persuade La Sasso to join \u2013 has only been present at one tournament this season<\/a>. <\/p>\n When joining LIV, La Sasso rejected the traditional avenues to the elite when sitting third in the PGA Tour University program. Now though, regardless of his LIV future and more challenging routes to the PGA Tour, La Sasso wants to broaden his horizons with playing opportunities elsewhere. <\/p>\n He is one several young LIV players to have signed up to the First Stage of DP World Tour Q School, which begins next month. La Sasso will tee it up from September 8 at the Golf-und Country Club Seddiner See in Germany, one of the 10 sites for the first of the 72-hole stroke play events.<\/p>\n Luis Masaveu, who is also in LIV\u2019s Drop Zone, will tee it up at a qualifier in England after competing on the HotelPlanner Tour in recent weeks. Masaveu be joined by Spanish compatriot and Fireballs GC teammate Josele Ballester, who has already outlined his desire to mix LIV starts next season with the DP World Tour next season. <\/p>\n This young trio do not have any previous status on the European circuit, hence their entry at this early juncture. Any player who starts at the first stage and makes the cut in the third and final stage, held in Spain in November, would end up playing 14 rounds \u2013 or 252 holes \u2013 in pursuit of a tour card.<\/p>\n TG understands multiple other LIV players have inquired about either reviving or acquiring a DP World Tour card next season. Thomas Pieters told us at LIV Golf UK last month<\/a> that he was willing to fight for his card at Q School if LIV ceases to exist next season.<\/p>\n
