\n The Brighter Futures Abseil Challenge 2026 will take place on Saturday, September 19, from the roof of Great Western Hospital.\n<\/p>\n
\n It offers supporters the chance to descend 90 feet down the side of the building to raise funds for the Meadows Unit, which supports patients receiving systemic anti-cancer treatment.\n<\/p>\n

\n Former Heartbeat heart throb Jason Durr, who also played nurse David Hide on BBC\u2019s Casualty, took part in the challenge in 2020.\n<\/p>\n
\n Colby Cain, community and events fundraising manager at Brighter Futures, said: “This is one of our most exciting fundraising events and a fantastic opportunity for people to challenge themselves while making a real difference to local healthcare.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Places are filling up quickly, and we’d encourage anyone thinking about taking part to secure their spot now before it’s too late.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The event is open to individuals, families, friends, and workplace teams, and no previous abseiling experience is necessary.\n<\/p>\n
\n All participants will be guided by experienced instructors from Rockyventures Ltd.\n<\/p>\n
\n The charity described it as an ideal way for people to conquer a fear of heights, raise money in honour of someone special, or take on a bucket-list challenge.\n<\/p>\n
\n Brighter Futures is the dedicated charity of the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, supporting projects that improve patient care and staff wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n
\n Funds raised from the abseil will help the charity continue its work enhancing healthcare services in the region.\n<\/p>\n
