Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an alleged stabbing at a hotel used to house asylum seekers, Surrey Police said.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to the Stanwell Hotel in Staines, near Heathrow Airport, at 18:30BST on Saturday over reports a man had been stabbed.<\/p>\n
One man in his 30s was taken to hospital with “life-threatening injuries”, the force said.<\/p>\n
A Somali national in his 20s has been arrested and remains in police custody.<\/p>\n
“Due to the nature of the report, armed officers were dispatched to the scene and assisted with the arrest,” Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder said.<\/p>\n
In a statement released late on Saturday night, she said: “There remains a police presence in the area while we carry out initial enquiries.”<\/p>\n
She added: “We understand this incident has caused concern within the local community, and I encourage you to speak to local officers.”<\/p>\n
