Financial
\n Conduct Authority<\/a> has appointed Sabina Saini and Darine Obeid
\n as financial services attach\u00e9s for India and the United Arab
\n Emirates, respectively.<\/p>\nSaini will be based at the British Deputy High Commission in
\n Mumbai and Obeid will be based at the British Embassy in Abu
\n Dhabi, the FCA said in a statement. Saina started in the role on
\n 10 August; Obeid begins on 31 August.<\/p>\n
The regulator said the appointments will expand its global
\n presence, joining a global network that includes the FCA”s
\n attach\u00e9s in Washington DC, Brussels and Singapore, as well as
\n Asia-Pacific. These moves support international co-operation,
\n exports and investment into the UK, it said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOur new financial services attach\u00e9s in India and the UAE will
\n advance the UK’s interests on financial services policy and help
\n drive investment into our open market,\u201d Ruair\u00ed O\u2019Connell,
\n director, international, said. “The FCA’s global network is vital
\n to delivering across all parts of the FCA strategy. Our new
\n presence will help us and our counterparts in India and the Gulf
\n do even more together.\u201d<\/p>\n
Previously a manager at the FCA, Saini led work on the UK’s
\n critical third-parties regime and broader operational risk and
\n resilience policy. She has almost 20 years’ experience
\n of\u00a0financial regulation, audit and banking, in
\n particular\u00a0on prudential supervision and risk. Before
\n joining the FCA in 2024, she spent over eight years at the Bank
\n of England in roles spanning resolution policy, supervision and
\n audit. Obeid has spent more than a decade at the FCA,
\n specialising in supervision in\u00a0retail banking, wholesale
\n banking and fintech.
\n<\/p>\n
\n She has led high-profile engagement in financial crime,
\n operational resilience, AI and customer outcomes.
