{"id":741280,"date":"2026-08-17T23:30:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T23:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/741280\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T23:30:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T23:30:24","slug":"whinhill-golf-club-wins-inverclyde-team-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/741280\/","title":{"rendered":"Whinhill Golf Club wins Inverclyde Team Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The competition was held, with teams from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk\/local-news\/greenock-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Greenock<\/a> Golf Club and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk\/local-news\/port-glasgow-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Port Glasgow<\/a> Golf Club competing alongside the hosts.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk\/local-news\/gourock-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gourock<\/a> Golf Club were unable to field a team this year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The competition was tightly contested, with all matches reaching at least the 16th hole.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Whinhill team managed to secure the victory by virtue of count back against Greenock, after both teams finished with four points.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Next year&#8217;s trophy will be hosted by Greenock Golf Club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Whinhill Golf Club said: &#8220;We look forward to making the trip down the hill to try and defend the trophy.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Thanks to all the players and representatives from the three clubs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We would also like to thank Kerry and Caitlin of Inverclyde Leisure for providing the hospitality.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;A special thanks to our greenkeeping team who presented the greens in particular in great condition.
