{"id":741935,"date":"2026-08-18T14:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T14:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/741935\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T14:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T14:40:09","slug":"jack-davies-middlesex-wicketkeeper-26-retires-from-the-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/741935\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Davies: Middlesex wicketkeeper, 26, retires from the game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Middlesex wicketkeeper Jack Davies has retired from professional cricket at the age of 26.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He made his first-class debut in the summer of 2020 during the Covid-era Bob Willis Trophy, played his first four T20 games that season and featured five times in the One-Day Cup in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">When John Simpson departed for Sussex, Davies became the club&#8217;s regular wicketkeeper and played in all 14 County Championship matches in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In total, Davies featured more than 100 times for Middlesex across all three formats, scoring more than 2,000 runs and claiming 88 dismissals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Davies&#8217; first venture outside the sport running 24 marathons in 24 days around Battersea Park, starting 3 September, to raise money for charities the Brompton Fountain and the Cricketers&#8217; Trust.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Middlesex wicketkeeper Jack Davies has retired from professional cricket at the age of 26.
