VALHALLA, N.Y., August 17, 2026 \u2013 FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Electronic Imaging Division, announces FUJIKINA New York 2026, a three-day festival celebrating the art of photography. Taking place Friday, October 16 through Sunday, October 18, 2026, FUJIKINA New York will be an immersive photography experience filled with exhibitions, keynote talks, workshops, photo walks, portfolio reviews, and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cPhotography has shaped New York for nearly 200 years, and at over 90 years in the imaging industry, Fujifilm has been a part of shaping photography for nearly half of that time,\u201d said Victor Ha, vice president and general manager, Electronic Imaging Division and Optical Devices Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. \u201cIn 2022, FUJIKINA became a part of New York\u2019s photo story, too. This October, we\u2019re celebrating it all by bringing a photography festival to the Lower East Side in spaces people already love, alongside the institutions that helped make it into what it is today. FUJIKINA began as a photo exhibition and festival in Japan in 2017. Year over year, FUJIKINA evolved into larger, more immersive events in Japan, and in 2022, Fujifilm went global, hosting FUJIKINA in New York City in 2022. Subsequent FUJIKINAs were held in Barcelona, Arles, London, and Cologne. In 2026 alone, FUJIKINA events were held in several European cities including Copenhagen, Warsaw, Arles, and Paris (to be held September 2026). FUJIKINA New York 2026 marks the event\u2019s first time back in New York City in four years.<\/p>\n
The event is poised to transform the historic Lower East Side into a living gallery space, with seven different venues containing five separate exhibitions. Moving beyond a traditional single-venue format, FUJIKINA unfolds across a walkable cluster of inspiring spaces, inviting attendees to wander, discover, and explore the past, present, and future of photography at their own pace. FUJIKINA\u2019s main anchor will be the International Center of Photography (ICP)<\/a>, one of four photo-centric organizations partnering with Fujifilm on this event. On the eve of FUJIKINA, ICP will open its event, I\u2019m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now. ICP\u2019s event runs through January 11, 2027, with support provided by Fujifilm. Other key FUJIKINA partners include:<\/p>\n Magnum Photos<\/a>, continuing its longstanding partnership with Fujifilm by presenting a dedicated gallery exhibition presenting Magnum: A World in Color, alongside Three Teens, new work by Magnum photographer Alec Soth. Joining the above, two additional exhibitions will also be part of FUJIKINA New York 2026. Refractions of Identity, presented by Femme Foto<\/a>, a New York City-based networking, social, and educational community, invited women, femme-identifying, trans, and nonbinary photographers to submit images that are reflective of the identity they see through their own personal lens.<\/p>\n Inheritance, presented by the Fujifilm Community Gallery, is an exhibition open to submissions from the entire Fujifilm community. The theme of this community gallery exhibition is a reflection on the legacy of image-making. \u201cWe are seeking photos that embody a lasting point of view\u2014images that preserve a story, celebrate a community, document a changing world, honor an influence, or document a moment that deserves to outlive the present,\u201d said Ha. \u201cSubmissions across all photographic genres are welcomed, including portraiture, street, documentary, fashion, landscape, architecture, still life, fine art, and experimental work. The full speaker lineup will be announced closer to the event date.<\/p>\n As with all FUJIKINA events, Fujifilm staff and Fujifilm camera and lens gear will be fully immersed in the event. Fujifilm will present a festival house onsite featuring photo exhibitions by Fujifilm photographers, hands-on demonstrations, camera check and clean services, and camera and lens loaners[1]<\/a> throughout the weekend. As with all FUJIKINA events, the focus is on photography as an artform, so owning a Fujifilm product is not necessary to participate in any activities onsite (excluding check and cleans).<\/p>\n FUJIKINA New York will build on the Lower East Side\u2019s emerging reputation as one of New York City\u2019s most vibrant districts for photography \u2014 a walkable neighborhood where museums, galleries, creative spaces, camera shops, and a growing community of image-makers come together.
