\n\tWith the return of her Sex and the City<\/a> heroine she originated nearly three decades ago, Sarah Jessica<\/a> Parker might not have been prepared for the meme-ification of Carrie Bradshaw and friends.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the 6x Golden Globe winner\u2019s apparent final performance as Carrie comes to an end with last week\u2019s And Just Like That\u2026<\/a> finale on HBO Max<\/a>, she recently addressed the show\u2019s \u201chate watchers,\u201d who have been vocal on social media.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think I have the constitution to have spent a lot of time thinking about that,\u201d Parker to The New York Times<\/a>. \u201cWe always worked incredibly hard to tell stories that were interesting or real. I guess I don\u2019t really care. And the reason I don\u2019t care is because it has been so enormously successful, and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWith Big\u2019s (Chris Noth) death by Peloton, Sara Ramirez\u2019s divisive nonbinary comedian character Che Diaz and the finale\u2019s un-flushed turd<\/a>, it\u2019s not difficult to see where fans found fodder for a very pop culture-driven social media.<\/p>\n

\n\tPreviously, showrunner Michael Patrick King<\/a> shared his perspective on the hate-watching phenomenon<\/a>. \u201cBeyond everything that people have printed, there are people who have been watching it for many years,\u201d he told Deadline.<\/p>\n

Trust me, you don\u2019t write for nothing, for no reaction. I mean, if you did that, you\u2019d be a poet. I want a reaction to the work we all do. It\u2019s a double-edged sword. Yes, they\u2019re watching. And guess what? Yes, they\u2019re watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast month, King notified cast before announcing the two-part series finale<\/a> of the three-season revival that launched in 2021.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd just like that\u2026 the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,\u201d said King. \u201cWhile I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That\u2026 Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
