Phoebe Bridgers<\/a> covered Nirvana\u2019s<\/a> classic track \u2018Lithium\u2019 on BBC Radio 1\u2019s Live Lounge, which you can watch below.<\/p>\n

The singer performed a haunting acoustic rendition of the song, from the grunge icons\u2019 1991 album \u2018Nevermind\u2019, on the Wednesday August 19 edition of the long-running music show.<\/p>\n

She also treated fans to performances of \u2018Lost Boys\u2019, the lead single from her new album \u2018Lost Weekend<\/a>\u2019, as well as the track \u2018Bobby\u2019.<\/p>\n

The session appears to have been recorded before Bridgers became ill from appendicitis, which caused her to cancel a series of intimate UK gigs this week<\/a>. \u201cI got appendicitis for my birthday,\u201d she wrote on Instagram stories, captioning a photo of herself in a hospital bed. \u201cEverything in the UK this week will have to move but I\u2019ll make it up to you!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Lost Weekend\u2019 was released on August 14, and is the third solo studio album from the artist, who also performs as part of supergroup Boygenius<\/a>. Among the album\u2019s biggest supporters was Taylor Swift, who called the release an \u201cabsolute triumph in every way\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

NME gave the album five stars in its review<\/a>, describing it as \u201ca staggering, strange and stirring opus\u201d. \u201cBridgers\u2019 \u2018Lost Weekend\u2019 is the opposite of emotional evasion: more a reckoning with herself and the romantic and familial love and loss that have shaped her story and storytelling,\u201d wrote critic Erica Campbell.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a feat that could only be achieved by a songwriter and musician self-assured in their penmanship and musicality, someone who may have started the journey of writing her third album feeling lost, but by the end wasn\u2019t unmoored at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
