Sony has been accused of blocking sales of Marvel\u2019s Wolverine<\/a> via a Brazilian website which allows the use of discount codes.<\/p>\n

Local store The Gamer Hut<\/a>, which operates within Shopee, claims that an \u201cexternal\u201d request required it to prevent the use of vouchers or cease selling the upcoming game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to clarify that Shopee did not create this requirement,\u201d the retailer\u2019s statement reads<\/a>, as translated by Google.<\/p>\n

As I understand, these coupons can be obtained independently of The Gamer Hut, and can be used across the entirety of the Shopee platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo proceed with the pre-sale, we would have to agree to remove this benefit from our customers, and we do not agree to this condition,\u201d its correspondence continues.<\/p>\n

While The Gamer Hut didn\u2019t mention Sony by name, it\u2019s hard to imagine who else would make this request.<\/p>\n

This is obviously a sensitive topic, because the platform holder is under fire globally for its decision to cease manufacturing physical games in 2028<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A big part of the backlash is because this would give it complete control over pricing, by eliminating used game sales and retailer discounts.<\/p>\n

In this instance, it seems it\u2019s not comfortable with Marvel\u2019s Wolverine being purchased using discount codes \u2013 although I can\u2019t imagine it\u2019d be out of pocket here, as the cost of those would surely be attributed to the platform, in this case Shopee.<\/p>\n

It is also worth noting that pre-orders for the upcoming action game remain available on other Brazilian retailers, like Mercado Livre \u2013 where discount codes can also be used.<\/p>\n
