\u201cA24 wanted me to sign away my rights.\u201d That\u2019s the crux of Chris Hansen\u2019s explanation for why he turned down watching an early screening of Primetime<\/a>, the upcoming movie where the former To Catch a Predator host is portrayed by Robert Pattinson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Fox News<\/a>, Hansen recalled being just moments away from screening Primetime when he rejected signing what he deemed a \u201cvery restrictive agreement. I had never seen anything quite like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lawyers at A24 wanted me to sign away my rights to my name, image and brand, essentially, as well as any potential legal rights that would come out of the movie,\u201d Hansen claimed. <\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t sign that, so they didn\u2019t show me the film. I went all the way over there. \u2026 But who\u2019s going to sign something like that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Hansen said his attorneys had reviewed the NDA before he went to A24 to screen the film. Nevertheless, Hansen ultimately balked at signing it.<\/p>\n

The former host added, \u201cIf you look at the trailer<\/a>, obviously it\u2019s a very dramatized version. They had told me that it\u2019s fictionalized in many aspects. I know other people have seen it who didn\u2019t sign an NDA, and yet they wanted me to sign it.\u201d<\/p>\n

But The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u2019s sources say \u201cHansen was asked to sign a standard NDA a week in advance that all preview audiences must sign in order to watch an unreleased A24 film. It\u2019s mostly to prevent spoilers and protect the studio\u2019s IP.\u201d<\/p>\n
