\n\tPeter Parker is about to be crowned the new \u201cking of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tSpider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> is on the verge of <\/a>knocking Titanic<\/a> out of the all-time global box-office top five. <\/p>\n \n\tOver the weekend, Brand New Day racked up another $39 million domestically (and $109 million globally) bringing its totals to $854.9 million domestic ($2.22 billion globally). <\/p>\n \n\tThat puts Brand New Day just $44 million shy of overtaking James Cameron\u2019s Oscar-winning 1997 hit, something Brand New Day should easily manage in a week or so. <\/p>\n \n\tCameron\u2019s own 2009 smash Avatar still sits atop the all-time Top 5 with an incredible $2.9 billion lifetime gross, including rereleases.<\/p>\n \n\tThen comes 2019\u2019s Avengers: Endgame, which, like Brand New Day, features Tom Holland\u2019s Spider-Man, at $2.79 billion. Endgame is set to get a re-release Sept. 25, which will narrow the gap between Endgame and Avatar for the top spot again (Titanic\u2018s own box office<\/a> tally includes a $350 million re-release in 2012). <\/p>\n \n\tIn third is Cameron\u2019s 2022 sequel Avatar: The Way of Water with $2.33 billion. <\/p>\n \n\tIn fourth is the 2025 Chinese animated fantasy adventure Ne Zha 2 with $2.27 billion. <\/p>\n \n\tThen there\u2019s Titanic and the still-ascendant Brand New Day, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Zootopia 2 rounding out the Top 10. <\/p>\n \n\tGiven that Brand New Day is only $50 million behind Ne Zha 2, the superhero film is very likely to jump from No. 6 on the all-time global Top 10 up to No. 4. In addition, the film is only a hair behind Endgame domestically, meaning it should become the No. 2 domestic movie of all time any moment now. <\/p>\n \n\tPreviously, when Endgame passed Titanic, Cameron and his Lightstorm production company posted a congratulatory image on social media showing the Avengers \u201cA\u201d logo sinking the Ship of Dreams along with the message, \u201cAn iceberg sank the real Titanic.
