Rising star Miyu Yamashita tied an LPGA Tour scoring record as she surged to a dominant nine-shot victory at the CPKC Women’s Open in Canada.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old from Japan made an eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to complete a four-under 66 on Sunday and finish the week on a 23-under 257.<\/p>\n
It matched Kim Sei-young 72-hole tour record lowest total, with the South Korean also carding 257 when finishing 31 under at Thornberry Creek in 2018.<\/p>\n
Yamashita broke the tournament’s record of 262, set by South Korea’s Ko Jin-young in 2019.<\/p>\n
Having dominated from the opening round, Yamashita headed into the final day with a six-shot lead and extended that with six birdies in a closing four-under 66 on the Royal Mayfair course.<\/p>\n
Her compatriot Yuri Yoshida finished a distant second at 14 under par, while Kim Sei-young was another shot back in third.<\/p>\n
