Adam Azim<\/a> has been tipped for the top since his professional debut, and now \u2018The Assassin\u2019 is gearing up to challenge for his first world title, with a shot at super-lightweight honours on the horizon.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has been linked to a showdown with Dalton Smith throughout his career, but when the South-Yorkshireman knocked out Subriel Matias to claim the WBC super-lightweight crown at the beginning of the year<\/a>, he appeared to move out of Azim\u2019s reach.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Azim has fought only once this calendar, dominating Canada\u2019s Steve Claggett<\/a> \u2013 who went the distance when challenging for Teofimo Lopez\u2019s WBO world title in 2024 \u2013 with Azim stopping the Canadian inside of three rounds to stretch his undefeated record to 15-0 (12 KOs) back in May.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Slough-born sensation has risen to #4 in the IBF rankings, where the only two fighters above him, Lindolfo Delgado (#1) and Arthur Biyarslanov (#3), are set to collide for the vacant world title on the Canelo-Mbilli undercard on Saturday, October 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Boxing News has been reliably informed that Azim will attempt to line himself up for a shot at the victor of that bout by fighting the same month, topping a Boxxer card in October or November and then hoping to challenge the winner of Delgado-Biyarslanov for the IBF world title in early 2027.<\/p>\n

As far as opponents are concerned, Russia\u2019s Zaur Abdullaev could be in contention following his cancelled scrap with Azim last November, although Mexico\u2019s Gabriel \u2018Gollaz\u2019 Valenzuela, rated as the IBF #6, may also be in the running.<\/p>\n
