Marketa Vondrousova<\/a> has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport<\/a> (Cas) against her four-year ban for refusing an anti-doping test<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Wimbledon<\/a> champion refused an out-of-competition test at her home in December 2025 and was suspended in June by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). A hearing date has not yet been set by the court. <\/p>\n

Vondrousova, 27, stated in April that when she refused the test on the evening of 3 December she was at \u201cbreaking point after months of physical and mental stress\u201d.<\/p>\n

She claimed that the officer did not follow \u201cprotocol\u201d and it fell outside of her allotted whereabouts slot. The Czech signed a refusal form before taking her dog for a walk. <\/p>\n

Tennis players are required to log their whereabouts for a specific hour each day with anti-doping authorities so they can be tested outside of competition, although tests can also occur outside these set windows.<\/p>\n

The officer who visited her in December arrived at 8.15pm, outside her whereabouts submission slot for the day, and demanded an immediate test, which Vondrousova described as a \u201cserious intrusion into my privacy\u201d.<\/p>\n

But a tribunal later ruled that the Czech had \u201cno compelling justification\u201d for refusing the test. A test taken three days later returned negative.<\/p>\n

In a statement following her ban, Vondrousova said: \u201cI have never doped, I have never had a positive test. Throughout my entire career I have undergone countless anti-doping controls and have always stepped on the court with a clear conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vondrousova was previously ranked No 6 in the world but she has not played in 2026 and has fallen to No 153. She won a silver medal at the delayed Tokyo Olympic Games and reached the final of the 2019 French Open.<\/p>\n
