A move to wind-up Allan Corfield Architects Ltd (ACA) was made at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Friday, July 31.

The 10 staff who operate across the business were made redundant, but senior figures moved to acquire it along with company assets. Sister firm Allan Corfield Structures employed four people but it has not been rescued.

Non-Executive director Roderick McMillan said: “The last few weeks have been exceptionally difficult, but this is now a genuinely positive new beginning for a well-established UK-wide architectural practice, with offices in Dalgety Bay and Swindon and clients across the country.

“We have preserved a strong and profitable underlying business, a talented and committed team, excellent client relationships and a substantial workload.

“This gives the people who have helped manage, build and operate ACA the opportunity to take overall responsibility for its future and create an even stronger business.

“There has understandably been considerable attention on the liquidation of the previous company. That is now the past.

“The important story is that the underlying business has survived, the team is together, client work is continuing and ACA now has an exciting future under new ownership.

“Everyone involved has worked extraordinarily hard to make that happen.”

Mr McMillan worked alongside a senior management team of David MacFarlane, Jenny Chandela and Iga Panczyna, who led the buyout.

“Our immediate priorities are continuity for our clients and stability for our team,” said Mr MacFarlane.

“We have an excellent group of people, a strong portfolio of live work and a great deal to look forward to.

“We now have the opportunity to build on everything that was good about ACA while creating a stronger, more collaborative and well-managed business for the future.”
