\n\tStudiocanal has launched Studiocanal Classics<\/a>, a new worldwide catalogue label, drawing on a library of more than 18,000 titles the company describes as the largest outside the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe library spans 100 years of film history. Studiocanal has put some \u20ac25 million ($29 million) into 4K restorations of nearly 1,000 classic feature films over the past seven years, according to the company.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal\u2019s distribution footprint covers the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia and New Zealand, with additional partners handling Scandinavia and South Africa. The company puts out about 112 theatrical titles and 170 home entertainment titles per year as part of what it calls a 360-degree approach spanning development, production, distribution and catalogue management.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal Classics\u2019 theatrical lineup includes Michael Mann\u2019s \u201cManhunter: The Final Cut<\/a>,\u201d a 4K restoration marking the film\u2019s 40th anniversary. The restoration opened in U.S. theaters July 24 following a debut at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and opens in the U.K. on Sept. 25.<\/p>\n

\n\tJames Cameron\u2019s \u201cTerminator 2: Judgment Day<\/a>\u201d returns to theaters worldwide in 2D, 3D, 4DX and D-BOX starting Aug. 27, marking the sci-fi classic\u2019s 35th anniversary. Guillermo del Toro\u2019s \u201cPan\u2019s Labyrinth\u201d gets a new 4K restoration this fall for its 20th anniversary; Studiocanal acquired international rights to the film following its collaboration with del Toro on \u201cThe Devil\u2019s Backbone\u201d and unveiled the deal at the Cannes Film Festival, where \u201cPan\u2019s Labyrinth\u201d screened in the Cannes Classics strand. The restoration will be available in 3D formats.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe label is also presenting a Jacques Tati retrospective in 4K across European theaters, and a restoration of Ernst Lubitsch\u2019s \u201cTo Be or Not to Be\u201d will premiere at the Venice Film Festival\u2019s Venice Classics strand.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the home entertainment side, Studiocanal Classics\u2019 fall slate includes the Coen Brothers\u2019 \u201cBlood Simple Director\u2019s Cut\u201d and \u201cInside Llewyn Davis,\u201d the Joseph Losey-directed, Harold Pinter-scripted \u201cAccident,\u201d Richard Attenborough\u2019s 1992 film \u201cChaplin\u201d starring Robert Downey Jr. in an Oscar-nominated turn as the title character, and Jean-Pierre Melville\u2019s final film, \u201cUn Flic.\u201d A home entertainment edition of the Tati retrospective follows in November.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the U.K., the \u201cManhunter: The Final Cut\u201d 4K Ultra HD Collector\u2019s Edition has sold out ahead of its Nov. 30 release. The edition, overseen by Mann, includes 13 extras, among them freshly designed and vintage posters along with a director interview.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal Classics plans to reveal its 2027 theatrical and home entertainment slate at a later date, including a David Lynch collection.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal also licenses elements of its catalogue outside traditional distribution, including partnerships tying \u201cTerminator 2\u201d to Epic Games\u2019 \u201cFortnite\u201d and Activision\u2019s \u201cCall of Duty,\u201d cine-concert productions built around \u201cThe King and the Mockingbird\u201d and \u201cTerminator 2,\u201d and clip-licensing deals with brands including Chanel and Cartier.
