{"id":753283,"date":"2026-08-29T06:02:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T06:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/753283\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T06:02:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T06:02:17","slug":"josh-knight-reading-sign-portsmouth-defender-on-loan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/753283\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Knight: Reading sign Portsmouth defender on loan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Reading have signed defender Josh Knight on a season-long loan from Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 28-year-old made 14 appearances in the Championship for Pompey last season before suffering a back injury in November which kept him out for most of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Knight had arrived at Fratton Park in the summer of 2025 from German club Hannover 96.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He previously made 141 appearances in the Championship and League One for Peterborough United in two separate spells from 2018 to 2020 and 2021 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The former Leicester City academy product also played 37 times in the second tier for Wycombe Wanderers in the 2020-21 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;He&#8217;s a good defender first and foremost, but he&#8217;s also comfortable on the ball and gives us another real leader within the group,&#8221; Reading manager Leam Richardson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readingfc.co.uk\/news\/2026\/august\/28\/josh-knight-signs-on-loan-\/\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told the Royals&#8217; club website., external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;He knows this league inside out, he&#8217;s had success in it before and he&#8217;s coming to us fit and ready to go, having been involved with Portsmouth already this season.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reading have signed defender Josh Knight on a season-long loan from Portsmouth.
