Services from a major London<\/a> railway station are to be \u2018significantly reduced\u2019 over the Bank Holiday<\/a> due to strike action.<\/p>\n East Midlands Railway (EMR) has warned passengers that its services from London St Pancras will be extremely busy as RMT<\/a> members walk out in a dispute over safety.<\/p>\n The industrial action comes alongside programmed disruption on the East Coast Mainline this weekend, with no LNER trains set to run between King\u2019s Cross and Peterborough on Sunday due to signalling upgrade works.<\/p>\n Passengers can also expect to queue for EMR services at Nottingham<\/a> and Sheffield because of the reduced schedule.<\/p>\n RMT\u2019s dispute relates to concerns over the safety of Class 810 \u2018Aurora\u2019 trains.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n Manufactured by Japanese firm Hitachi, the fleet first entered service last December, but has since been plagued with technical issues affecting some of the onboard services.<\/p>\n \t\t The union has now instructed its drivers and train staff to refuse to work<\/a> on the trains if certain issues are not addressed including a lack of air-conditioning, door faults and out-of-order toilets.<\/p>\n Philippa Cresswell, customer experience director at EMR, said: \u2018We recognise how frustrating this disruption will be for customers, particularly following the three Saturdays affected by RMT strike action earlier this month, and we are very sorry for the impact this will have on August bank holiday plans.<\/p>\n \u2018We continue to have constructive discussions with the RMT and have met with the union six times as we work towards resolving the issues at the heart of this dispute.<\/p>\n \u2018We strongly advise customers to only travel to or from London if their journey is essential on Sunday 30 and Monday August 31, and to check their full journey, including first and last trains, before setting out.\u2019<\/p>\n He added: \u2018Customers in Scotland<\/a>, the North East, and Yorkshire travelling to or from London, and are yet to purchase a ticket and would normally travel with LNER, are strongly encouraged to follow LNER\u2019s travel advice and use their replacement bus service.\u2019<\/p>\n RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey called for 810 trains with faults to be taken out of service.<\/p>\n \u2018It is now time for EMR management to act on the safety concerns of our members\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n For more stories like this, check our news page<\/a>.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow Arrow![\"LONDON,](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_309385088-02fa.jpg\")
