Fitness personality Joe Wicks<\/a> has revealed that he\u2019s kept his children far away from McDonald\u2019s<\/a>.<\/p>\n The health guru, 40, with millions of followers on social media<\/a>, has made a name for himself doling out healthy lifestyle advice and getting the public active. And his guidance doesn\u2019t end at the front door.<\/p>\n When he\u2019s not putting in a shift as the nation\u2019s PE teacher, he\u2019s busy raising his four young children \u2013 Indigo, eight, Marley, seven, Leni, three and Dusty, two \u2013\u00a0 with his wife Rosie.<\/p>\n Although for many eating your first Big Mac or downing a fistful of Maccies French fries at the motorway services with your family might be a core memory, that\u2019s not the case for the Wicks clan.<\/p>\n As the Body Coach revealed in a new interview, none of his kids has eaten at the fast food chain, and, one to practice what he preaches, he\u2019s also swerved the popular joint for the past decade.<\/p>\n \u2018They\u2019ve never had McDonald\u2019s,\u2019 he told Cathy Newman of Times Radio while promoting his new cookbook, Healthy Start.<\/p>\n \t\t He went on to explain: \u2018I haven\u2019t had McDonald\u2019s, and I used to love like a sausage and egg McMuffin in the mornings. It was my thing. So I would go 7am before my boot camp, and I\u2019d have a sausage egg McMuffin with a hash brown\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n All that changed when he met his wife in 2015, however, and the pair shared one last trip to McDonald\u2019s before he cut it from his life.<\/p>\n He continued: \u2018The night I met her, actually, we\u2019re driving back from a rave, and we stopped at the 24-hour McDonald\u2019s in Wandsworth, and that was because she really wanted to have McDonald\u2019s. So that was the last time we had McDonald\u2019s.\u2019<\/p>\n His aversion to feeding his kids fast food like McDonald\u2019s may stem from his own childhood, which he\u2019s previously said was full of \u2018ultra-processed food\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018I had a very unhealthy diet as a child,\u2019 he told RTE<\/a>.<\/p>\n He continued: \u2018Any money that came through the door was not going on healthy protein sources and vegetables \u2013 it just wasn\u2019t. So I lived off ultra-processed food and frozen dinners. <\/p>\n \u2018My mum was 15 when she was kicked out of school and left home; she didn\u2019t have the skills and knowledge to cook \u2013 it was not in her vocabulary.\u2019<\/p>\n He shared that nowadays he struggles to consume those foods \u2018in moderation\u2019.<\/p>\n In fact, his new cookbook is all about healthy meals for all the family, in the hopes of offering those with children \u2018nourishing, easy and enjoyable\u2019 recipes that work for everyone.<\/p>\n \t\t As for his approach to parenting, he also had strong thoughts on kids snacking in between mealtimes.<\/p>\n Explaining that it\u2019s no sweat when kids kick up a fuss at mealtimes, with the promise of just reheating the food when they\u2019re hungry, he explained his reservations around offering \u2018lots of snacks\u2019 to wee\u2019uns.<\/p>\n \u2018I think we live in an environment where we\u2019re taught to sort of give snacks and this sort of in between meals all the time, so constantly grazing and little children have quite small tummies. <\/p>\n \u2018So try and avoid snacking, try to just wait,\u2019 he advised.<\/p>\n![\"Joe](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_309768525-d3f2.jpg\")
