Robert MacIntyre cut a frustrated figure during an interview after he narrowly lost to Scottie Scheffler at the BMW Championship.<\/p>\n

Scheffler<\/a> won the second FedEx Cup playoff event at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland by finishing 15 under on the par-71 course.<\/p>\n

His performance on Sunday marked an impressive comeback against MacIntyre, who held a four-shot lead<\/a> ahead of the final day.<\/p>\n

And his frustrations were clear to see afterwards having missed out on what would have been the third PGA Tour<\/a> title win of his career.<\/p>\n

“I mean, he seems to be hitting every fairway, every green,” a reporter said of Scheffler during an interview with MacIntyre.<\/p>\n

“It’s kind of the two of you out front, that’s got to put extra pressure… you know he’s not going to blink, right?”<\/p>\n

“Not at all, I can’t control what he does,” said MacIntyre. “Look, I mean, he doesn’t hole out, he doesn’t get up and down on 17, he holes it.<\/p>\n

“If he didn’t get up and down there, my ball didn’t fly two yards long, it may have been a different story.<\/p>\n

“But look, he’s a better player on the day. Yeah, I’m just really p***ed off right now.”<\/p>\n

The reporter then asked: “What do you see as improvements you feel like you need to make?”<\/p>\n

But MacIntyre made it clear that he’s not looking at how to refine his game just yet given the manner in which he lost the tournament.<\/p>\n

“I don’t… I mean, right now, not a clue,” he said. “Right now, I want to go and smash up my golf clubs, to be honest with you.”<\/p>\n

The PGA Tour championship trophy event began with the St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Justin Rose won his first tournament title with victory over J. J. Spaun in a play-off after they both finished 16 under.<\/p>\n

Following Scheffler’s victory at the BMW Championship, the FedEx Cup playoffs will conclude this weekend with the Tour Championship.<\/p>\n

The top 30 players in the points rankings will compete for the title, so stars including Scheffler, MacIntyre, Spaun and Rose are set to play.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy will also feature at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia despite controversially missing the St. Jude Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Masters champion opted out after a 72-hole stroke format returned to the Tour Championship, replacing starting strokes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Previous editions saw the player at the top of the FedEx Cup points list allowed to start ten-under par in the final playoff event.<\/p>\n

McIlroy, second in the standings, was already set to feature in the 50-man field for the BMW Championship.<\/p>\n

His decision to sit out the first playoff event was unlikely to have had an impact on his ability to play at the Tour Championship.<\/p>\n
