It’s one of the most popular broadband providers in the UK.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But TalkTalk is about to make a major change that could leave many users \u00a350 out of pocket.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The internet provider is turning off free email services for hundreds of thousands of former customers later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This means that if you still use a TalkTalk email address but are no longer with the company, your email will stop working \u2013 unless you’re willing to fork out \u00a350, or \u00a35\/month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The change comes as TalkTalk has changed email provider to Everymail.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘We’ve continued to provide your TalkTalk email service free of charge for some time,’ the tech giant explained on its FAQ page.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘However, as you’re no longer a TalkTalk broadband customer, we’re unfortunately unable to continue offering it at no cost.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Providing a high\u2013quality email service requires ongoing investments in infrastructure, security, and innovation.’<\/p>\n

You’ll be impacted by the change if you’re a former TalkTalk customer with one of the following email addresses:\u00a0@talktalk.net, @lineone.net, @tiscali.co.uk, @tinyworld.co.uk, or @pipex.com.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’re affected you should have already received an email from TalkTalk explaining your options.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first part of the change came into play on 28 July.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From that date, anyone who has not subscribed can still access their emails, but is unable to send any emails.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The next big date to mark in your diary is 8 September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From then, you will no longer be able to access your emails, and will be redirected to the subscription page.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘To transfer to another provider, you must download all your data before this date,’ TalkTalk advised.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the hard deadline to set an alarm for is 31 October.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you don’t fancy forking out \u00a350 or paying \u00a35\/month to keep your email, you’ll need to download your data and transfer it to another provider (stock image)\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you haven’t subscribed by then, your email account will be permanently closed \u2013 alongside all associated data.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘This action is irreversible, so it’s important to act before this deadline,’ the tech giant added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you don’t fancy forking out \u00a350 or paying \u00a35\/month to keep your email, you’ll need to download your data and transfer it to another provider.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Existing TalkTalk broadband customers will not be affected by the change, and can continue using their email addresses for free.\u00a0<\/p>\n
